The thing with this tripod turning into a monopod, it means that have to be carrying 2 batang around, and fix them together the time I wanted to use them. Unlike others, which is only 1 batang. Haha.
*
I recently just bought a CF tripod, Jusino directly from their china taobao site. Shashinki is their official distributor in malaysia and has limited models. I only paid for RM600+ which is inclusive of delivery and custom color + engraving. It is lightweight, can be folded into about 132cm, so much smaller compared to my previous velbon tripod. I got to put it into an event shoot and find it to be sturdy enough. Highly recommended if you're not aiming to go for branded like manfrotto/gitzo

RM600. Wahlau. That was the amount I paid for 2 lens and one adapter.  unsure.gif
But I watched the YouTube last night, you'll need the batang in the middle and the batang of the kaki, fix both together to make it one monopod. No? That was why I said 2 batang, LOL.
*
Haha my lenses cost few times more than that. 600 is a steal for CF tripod. Not toomsure abt monopods, i dont shoot sports at all

Need some opinions.

Currently using the canon 17-40L with a viltrox adapter. Been really happy with the 17-40L since my canon days but somehow with the adapter, AF speed is unpredictable at times, and the fixed aperture sometimes is difficult for low light shots where I prefer not to use a flash.

So I shortlisted the sony FE 28 f/2 and the 16-35 f/4 zeiss. Reason being is the 28 f2 has a relatively fast aperture and as for the zeiss, it would probably be an upgrade over the canon.

I was given a good price for the 16-35, so after selling the 17-40L I will just have to top up slightly to get it. My concern is just that even after the zeiss, it will not solve my prob of shooting in low lit conditions. What say u guys?

mmmm

there is only 3 body that 'might' able to lock properly on lo light condition, in phase detect mode, the A7s, A7rII and A7sII.

phase detect rely on the cleanliness of the sensor in high iso, to find the contrast of coz. if its full of noise, it will just detect those noise as contrast and lock randomly.

thats why....
as for the A7, A7R, A7II, A6000, A6300 (and all olderbody) may require the AF illuminator (annoying red light) else it will just hunt and lock to infinity*. external flash af-assist illumination will not work

Sony Mirrorless system is still immature. why sony have to kill off A mount  ranting.gif
*
Thanks for the explaination. Someone in one of the FB groups i joinned suggested to get the 16-35 f2.8 SSM with the LA-E3 adapter. What say u?

For my usage, A7RII is really an overkill. Just a hobbyist.

The ea3 will work very well if you're using a a7ii or the a7rii. Can use phase detection effectively.

If you're using the a7/a7r, then go for ea4. But it's still inferior compared to the ea3 on mkii system..
*
Did some reading online and the 16-35 f2.8 + the ea3 weights almost double of the 16-35 f4, and not forgetting the 16-35 is almost 5k new. cant seem to find a used unit though.

Haha. U specifically mentioned low light ma. That's why I suggested the 16-35 2.8 ssm + ea3.

Otherwise the FE 16-35 f4 works just fine.

But if u wait for the FE 16-35 f2.8, I think it's gonna cost a bomb.
*
Yeah man, will only wait for those who are letting go their 16-35 f4 for the GM haha

Canon to E mount adapter, viltrox and commlite anyone got experience?
*
Was using the latest 3rd gen viltrox adapter, AF is acceptable if u ask me, just that it tends to hunt when it comes to low light.

Interesting, so most recommend Viltrox over Commlite then, for the budget adapter. Interestingly taobao price is higher than ebay it seems.
*
Just get it from shashinki, they'll cover a year warranty, any issue send it bck to them. Their price & taobao almost the same, but with warranty.

The adapters are FF capable?

Yes. I think it's more to whether ur lens is FF or not, nothing to do with the adapter

Just get it, I was hesitating a few months back and I never regretted. Besides that sony A7 series hold their value quite well. Can still see used A7mII fetching for 4.2-4.3K.

Yes.
I noticed that when I tried both camera (A7II and D750) in Nikon and Sony Center. Definitely no match for Nikon's AF in low light but I think it is good enough for general photography. Unless you plan to do serious job in low light situation like wedding dinner or so, the DSLR is better.

By the way, many people are jumping into mirrorless for the weight advantage, which definitely is not huge difference compared to DSLR (after you take into account the batteries). Plus, lens on Sony side is also more expensive.

I'm not bashing Sony here as both has its own pros and cons. At the end of the day I'm still going to buy A7II. I like the mirrorless feature where you can actually "preview" the image before snapping it, compared to DSLR. So it's pretty much what you see is what you get. With that said, I'm still contemplating on the upgrade path to FF as this requires considerable investment in FF glass. The "good" ones e.g 24-70 f4 is selling at 2.6k used. The "excellent" 24-70 2.8 well let's not even go there.
*
Read a lot of reviews online that the 24-70 f/4 is not worth it's price but the 2.8 is well, probably not budget friendly for a hobbyist like me. Have the 16-35 & 55, looking for something longer in btw.

IMO, A7II is like in between of entry to medium level FF.
A7R II is more redefining on AF capabilities (Sony claim 40% improved) and Added Megapixel.
The 4K on it is like a bonus add-on i think.

A7SII mainly focus on video and lowlight capabilities.
*
I upgraded to the A7II from a Canon entry level SLR which I've been using for years. And yeah I do think the AF on the A7II loses out especially when it comes to low light, and yes even to a entry level Canon. But it all depends on what you shoot, I shoot mostly landscape & occasional potraits and once in a while events, so I can live with the slow AF, it improves when u use native Sony FE lenses. So I sold off my 17-40L and got a 16-35 instead. At the end of the day I guess it all depends on you, to me the A7R II is a beast which I'll probably under utilize as a hobbyist.

A7ii body only price is 4.1K such a steal. Anyone who is considering buying before this can bite the bullet now. When I got mine it was the cheapest at 4.6k this is 500 bucks cheaper which can contribute to lenses

OMG. Seriously? At 4.1 I think would have tilted and bought man.
*
Yeah bro, check back my previous post. That was the day shashinki sent out emails about that deal of the day thing. But at 4.5k, i still think it's a very good deal, put aside the fact they are clearing stock for the upcoming A7III. So far I noticed A7 series hold their 2nd hand value quite well, if want to upgrade can still sell at minimal loss.

I remember my third battery also was from Lazada during a cheap sale that was shared by a member here. Now that I saw it again this morning, so might as well share it out, too. Plus, it's a photo shop, I don't think it'll be a fake unit? Shashinki best offer still at RM180+
Stock market? LOL!

Yeah should be ori since it's from foto shangrila

Just got the 28 f/2 from KLDSLR 2 days ago. Last piece left at promo price. Reason I bought it is for casual street shootings & low light situations where the 55 seems narrow. Can't wait to try it out.
