Hi all.

Photography newbie hereee.

Currently having a point and shoot wx500. Unfortunately there's a speck of dust entered and I think it's on the sensor. =(
Between the frustration of being on vacation and having a dust polluted camera, considering upgrading to a mirrorless.

Been seeing Sony a5100 and canon me
Any suggestions comments ?
Are these much easier to clean of dust if they do settle on ? On another note. Do you guys know how to clean of dust from a wx500?

You should try to clean out on lens front optical.
Used we micro fiber cloth for apply on 1st layer , after that follow by dry micro fiber cloth n air blower will do.
*
Tried to wipe off using dry micro fiber cloth on lens front. Nope didn't remove it.
I think it's inside . Either inside the lens or the sensor. But for point and shoot cam. Can't take off the lens. Sad. Hmmmm

If it's inside the lens or the sensor ?

Welcome bro. Have fun shooting!

First advice: GAS is tempting, everpresent AND dangerous (especially to your wallet). Stay strong and do not be led astray by desire.
*
Haha. Already taken plenty of shots around my neighborhood. LOL. trying to get the feel.

Hmmm.... GAS is there.... trying to resist!!!!! Until i learn enough. LOL

But i think external battery charger is needed.

First time shooting. I think it's bad!!!!

Nah, more like a cliche like lwliam says. But it doesn't matter, everyone needs to start somewhere.

Anyway, for external battery chargers, you can either get an ori Sony TRD charger (there are several types) or the Kingma USB powered dual-battery charger for the FW50 (just search Shopee or Lazada).

Myself using the Kingma, no issues so far.

And yeah, even if you feel as if you have taken lots of pics, take lots more. Read up of basic photo theory on the net or through the tube... while trying your best to keep GAS at bay.

Your aim is to reach a point when you know roughly by heart how to operate what you have in hand right now (A6k + Kit), without having to resort to full auto mode.

I guess that's a good place to start from. I think only then will you kinda sorta understand what you don't understand lol.

Well, IMHO anyway lol. I'm no expert myself lol. Just another guy with a camera and some extra time to babble here (and yet not e out time to go out take pics lol).
*
lol.

now i getting paranoid over dry box and shutter lifespan.... @@ any comments? advice?

Solution is don't shoot birds. Google for the pics instead.

Unless you're a full time birder, getting a zoom lens just for birding is a waste of $.
*
QUOTE(IwanAGP @ May 4 2017, 10:13 PM)
I'm not sure but 55-210 is not the best for birding. It's just not fast enough.

Trust me I tried it biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Also the optical performance is really... limited...
*
QUOTE(Eiraku @ May 4 2017, 10:20 PM)
70-200G minimum for birding just for the speed alone... Even if f4 barely qualifies lol.

Not that I don't use the 55210, every time my workplace has a sports event it will defo come out. For "normal" (aka unpaid) level documentation use, its plenty actually.

Normies don't really care about CA or whatnots if you manage to get their pic clinching the winning company family day match goal.

Of course, paid contract level work will require something better lah.
*
hmm.... so the advice is.. hold off this itch. until i truly settle in?

Well, getting into any hobby is going to burn some money anyway, depends on how much willing to put in, but that is subjective.

Anyway there is a solution with adapter and using less expensive glasses too, have to work with down side of that approach that is. But doesnt hinder the enjoyment.

Minolta 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6, i got it below 300rm shipped from japan.

Hi All,

Noob beginner here

I have an A6000, with it's kit lens 16-50mm PZ, a (used)Sigma 30mm 2.8f prime, and a (used)adapted Nikkor 50mm 1.4f manual lens.

Any idea how could I improve my lens line up? I am finding it hard to shoot with only the 30mm(my main nowdays) at events/outings especially indoor when leg zooming does not allow it. sad.gif
the 50mm only comes out at slow paced shoots cause its a manual, but I like the bokeh. smile.gif
And I am not really liking the kitlens personally....

Do I go with a multipurpose zoom? or another prime?

Thank you sifus

i'd get the 50mm 1.8 oss first. its a beast on the a6000. fast AF. and should give you the reach u want.

if u want something a little more versatile like the kit, you can get the 16-70 f4. pricey but at least will cover all your focal lengths without you having to carry around more lenses.

theres also the 18-105 you can try.

state your budget or we will rekomen you the 24-70mm F2.8 GM lens.  tongue.gif
*
Haha, oops, didn't state budget.

Basically not sure how much. Will be saving up. Maybe something not too expensive?

The other thing im considering is getting external flash perhaps and skip another lens for later later on?

what do you shoot mostly?

external flash you will have to see whether you are interested in flash photography or not.
flash photography is a different type of skill set.

i know a lot of ppl who can take great photographs without flash, but when using flash they really cannot go.
blame it on high ISO/HDR people nowadays dun build up their flash photography skills.
*
Mostly friends events or outings.

When I'm shooting myself go random. Not landscapes though.
Don't travel much, so quite a challenge finding new things to shoot lol. My skills are like level 0.1

well honestly for e-mount system its gonna be hard to find a wider replacement for your 30mm prime if your looking for sony lenses if your on a budget.
try 3rd party sigma brand and you will have more choices for example the 20mm f1.4 lens or 14mm/24mm f1.4.

btw its ok if you sell a kidney to buy new lenses.
most of us here are left with one kidney anyway.... laugh.gif  laugh.gif
*
Hmmm. We'll, is OSS worthwhile for the price ?

And another note, how do you keep finding stuff to shoot ?
I want to continue learning. Haha
