Is it all natural light?
Why no go for 85mm f1.4? Not the Sony GM, other third party brand
*
Yes, outdoor day light.
I prefer the size and weight of this 1.8 for travels, AF is reliable too.

Is it a good time to get a7iii or wait for a7iv?

The price didn't drop much compared to few months ago

Ps:not desperate for a new camera

Sony A7III (RM6k+) + Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 (small and lightweight, RM3k+) or Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 (RM 4.5k+ new release, weighty for traveling)
Sony A7III + Sony FE 35mm f1.8 (RM2k+) + Sony FE 85mm f1.8 (RM2k) or Samyang FE 85mm f1.4 (RM2.7k, if you want more creamy bokeh / background blur, and remember to ask the seller whether this Samyang 85mm is new stock, if new stock, it has firmware v04 better AF focus performance)

Are you zoom (preferably versatility) or primes lens guy?

4mm wide angle does make difference, but if you are shooting photos casually, that 4mm wide end doesn't matter that much.

Yellow cast on photos, I shoot RAW, majority people shoot RAW, white balance can adjust as you wish. Subjective matter.

Sony rumor says Sony A7IV is around this year, but still a rumor. I think it is likely next year.

Since no hurry for new camera, wait for Sony A7IV release and Sony A7III price drop further more (now RM6k+).
I doubt Sony A7IV has any big changes, just that Real Time Tracking AF, Body like new release A7R4 & A9II, minor improvement only. Maybe 24mp to 30mp.
Sony could give us this firmware Real Time Tracking AF update on 3rd gen body, but you know I know...

If the A74 price is around $2200, it's better and worth your money to get A73 for cheap price.

If no funds, you can consider Sony APSC with new Sony 16-50mm or Sigma apsc primes. Otherwise, fujifilm apsc line.

(just do it) Sell Nikon to get Sony FF. I also sold my Sony FE 70-200mm f2.8 GM just now for RM7300 (bought 1 year ago, rarely use), I bought it for RM9.5k
Rarely use it and collect dust because it is quite weighty to carry for long time. RM2.2k sacrifice to get new Tamron 17-28mm & Samyang FE 85mm f1.4.

Now, I have Sony A7III + Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 + Tamron 17-28mm f2.8 + Samyang FE 85mm f1.4.
Wanna to sell Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, but it is too good to sell, it is so versatile and lightweight for travel and anything.

Even though big money loss (sold 70-200mm f2.8), it is not my first time, 1 big lens for 2 lenses in return is more worth the photography experience.
Can get wider view with Tamron 17-28mm f2.8, better bokeh/background blur with that Samyang FE 85mm f1.4, more importantly, save my backs.
This is my endgame, unless my camera body is broken and need to change.

Lesson, don't follow GAS.

biggrin.gif But feel like 17 not enough kick leh.

12-24 + 24-70 should be good. If prime maybe 85mm F1.8 if zoom 70-300 biggrin.gif

I doubt I will make the jump anytime soon. Phone nowadays just too capable and versatile

17mm is more than enough for me. Actually I don't usually shoot at this wide range. SONY 12-24mm f4 can't accept front filter, the new Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 also cannot. The 16-35mm GM is too expensive, and also big.

Telephoto zoom is good and effective for event, wedding ceremony & dinner, sport only. Otherwise, better to get primes to shoot.
Too big, spotty they said, people notice you easily, pretty awkward to shoot portraits with it. So, I sold 70-200 f2.8 GM for greater goods.

I'm impressed to see many of your photos don't have bright sunlight cast on the person, are you shooting in the shade or diffuse the sunlight?
