QUOTE(yehlai @ Mar 26 2017, 11:37 PM) Do you guys see some O&G co are no longer giving VSS to phase out some old stuff? Instead they using performance issue to ask people to leave. Nothing new, they've resort other tactics as well e.g move you off to foreign countries and promised to pay by their currency, next thing you know you're been released without any compensation. |

QUOTE(raop @ Apr 3 2017, 08:29 AM) I was released from O&G last Dec (after 10 years). Now i am working with one of the Statutory Body in Sarawak (2 months and still probational period). Recently i was approached by one of the competitor and they are willing to hire me, if i want to go back to O&G. i would rather have more money above stability. sorry, at this current climate there is nothing that is secure so best is to make more money to save for the rainy days.My question is, how does the O&G outlook look like? From what i see, oil price will not reach 2014 level and there is no sense of security... |

QUOTE(thesnake @ Apr 8 2017, 04:49 PM) Bro, seriously, take a chill pill. For dont know how many donkey years west malaysian fabricators take a large bulk of the fabrication, i dont see why the decision to prioritize Swakian fabricators this round is a huge deal. agreed. Lets have a fair share of the cake. if all the other fabricators die off, there would not be any competition. without competition, there will be less jobs in this tough climate. |

QUOTE(HornyAngMoh @ May 13 2017, 02:08 PM) Dear O & G sifu, seeking advice on any O & G company which have internship position? Currently doing PE in UTP so I need to do internship for 8 months starting from Sep 2017, prefer international com. Thank you very very much for all the advice. QUOTE(HornyAngMoh @ May 13 2017, 07:02 PM) Arrrr the dose of reality is, it is near impossible to get internship from some of this int com. Unless can get 'recommendation' from the inside......which is what I hope to get from all the O & G sifu here. Thanks for your reply. As a future UTP graduate please refrain from using short forms like "int" & "com". You need to buckle up and show some proficiency. Slacking shows lack of professionalism. How do expect a company to hire you as an intern? As far as I recall, UTP students should not have any trouble of getting hired for internship. The student service counsel is very actively working with various companies in getting internship seats for the students. My guess, you're just being picky and you shouldn't. How would it help you if you undergo a long internship with a renown MNC but you have only limited exposure. e.g photocopy, data entry and binding works? And please do not disgrace UTP by asking "Cables" for internship. We have a long history of being independent, and I hope the younger juniors should continue the culture. QUOTE(sangarjuna @ May 15 2017, 04:26 PM) Appreciate much advise from sifus here on way forward to get a technology/product listed among approved brand by Petronas; further to be accepted by all Petronas downstream companies (Petchem, Penapisan). As far as I know we have to go thru PD&T (formerly GTS), but is it mandatory? Can we go directly to the end-user not knowing whether the product that we intend to sell is approved or not. I was planning to bring in product and sell to Petchem and Penapisan. No. You can work your way from PD&T, but ultimately its the asset holder or end user whom will decide whether the product is to be used in their facility. What kind of product/technology are you interested in bringing in? Downstream budget is not as big as the upstream folks, hence you need to play your cards well. I suggest, you aim one particular facility and try out a pilot to convince the owners. |

mentally its not easy, but within a short time you will master the work. We come from a fast pace, fast learning and high competitive industry. Should be quick to assimilate to the new industry.

QUOTE(engrfeez @ Jun 1 2017, 12:18 PM) Is ok to learn new enviroment, subject if we had gave the chances. Nowadays when other industry saw your CV as O&G they straight away rejected. Because most people put O&G rates on expected pay sure la kena slashed out. No experience in their field and want to get fat pay.Of course not all, but it happen in most cases They key word would be mentality. If you are really sincere in starting anew fresh with no concerns on $$ from the start, you will succeed and learn faster. I see those whom really start a new fresh a year ago are currently building a strong profile up the corporate level. There are still those whom thinks they should be highly paid and picky... suffers with no employment after retrenchment. |

QUOTE(ch_teo @ Jun 1 2017, 11:12 PM) I have been called by 2 power plant opportunities and 1 subsea opportunity since the last few months. 1 of the power plant offers was able to offer almost double of my current basic. the offer would be almost same as my current basic + allowances + OT. The power plant industry is not strict like O&G requirements. But there is still more to explore in my current company. Which power plant? Coal or Gas? I'm guessing coal generated powerplants. For Gas, Remaco is the only company I can think of offering good pay, Unless you're in the power plant fabrication/construction side. Yes, they are not so stringent compared to O&G, but damn you need to sit through the boring NIOSH Tenaga class just to get the Tenaga card to allow access to the worksite.it is about gaining the solid diverse relevant experience, relevant professional paper qualifications concurrently and not job hopping. this will help when one face challenges and able to adapt to tackle them more effective. At my present post 3 years plus. Previous post 6 years plus before join current company. Great to hear that. I have spoken with a few MD and CEO. Its now a employers market. They are very careful in undertaking projects. No longer offer the old rates as the market is unfortunately saturated with people whom are desperate. |

Project was delayed for 2 years if I recalled because they were unable to complete on time, with the ongoing defects and low oil price, everyone's pocket is short of cash. SSPC sure la come back and demand for compensation. No longer can bat one eye.

QUOTE(sangarjuna @ Jun 8 2017, 11:36 AM) thanks bro, appreciate that much. Who is the main-con and sub-con involve? the PIC for end-user, maincon and subcon all at site or based in KL? I want to introduce myself for supplying the company range of product and services. you are based in Pengerang? What you're asking is too generic. And there are so many packages out there. So many epcc sub con etc. You have to be specific. For starters what do you plan to sell and which area are you interested to start off. If you have a specified product in rapid design then it's easy, other wise it's very tough. |
