Nothing new, they've resort other tactics as well e.g move you off to foreign countries and promised to pay by their currency, next thing you know you're been released without any compensation.

i would rather have more money above stability. sorry, at this current climate there is nothing that is secure so best is to make more money to save for the rainy days.

As a future UTP graduate please refrain from using short forms like "int" & "com". You need to buckle up and show some proficiency. Slacking shows lack of professionalism. How do expect a company to hire you as an intern?

As far as I recall, UTP students should not have any trouble of getting hired for internship. The student service counsel is very actively working with various companies in getting internship seats for the students. My guess, you're just being picky and you shouldn't. How would it help you if you undergo a long internship with a renown MNC but you have only limited exposure. e.g photocopy, data entry and binding works?

And please do not disgrace UTP by asking "Cables" for internship. We have a long history of being independent, and I hope the younger juniors should continue the culture.

No. You can work your way from PD&T, but ultimately its the asset holder or end user whom will decide whether the product is to be used in their facility. What kind of product/technology are you interested in bringing in? Downstream budget is not as big as the upstream folks, hence you need to play your cards well. I suggest, you aim one particular facility and try out a pilot to convince the owners.

mentally its not easy, but within a short time you will master the work. We come from a fast pace, fast learning and high competitive industry. Should be quick to assimilate to the new industry.

Because most people put O&G rates on expected pay sure la kena slashed out. No experience in their field and want to get fat pay.

They key word would be mentality. If you are really sincere in starting anew fresh with no concerns on $$ from the start, you will succeed and learn faster. I see those whom really start a new fresh a year ago are currently building a strong profile up the corporate level. There are still those whom thinks they should be highly paid and picky... suffers with no employment after retrenchment.

Which power plant? Coal or Gas? I'm guessing coal generated powerplants. For Gas, Remaco is the only company I can think of offering good pay, Unless you're in the power plant fabrication/construction side. Yes, they are not so stringent compared to O&G, but damn you need to sit through the boring NIOSH Tenaga class just to get the Tenaga card to allow access to the worksite.

Great to hear that. I have spoken with a few MD and CEO. Its now a employers market. They are very careful in undertaking projects. No longer offer the old rates as the market is unfortunately saturated with people whom are desperate.

Project was delayed for 2 years if I recalled because they were unable to complete on time, with the ongoing defects and low oil price, everyone's pocket is short of cash. SSPC sure la come back and demand for compensation. No longer can bat one eye.

What you're asking is too generic. And there are so many packages out there. So many epcc sub con etc. You have to be specific. For starters what do you plan to sell and which area are you interested to start off. If you have a specified product in rapid design then it's easy, other wise it's very tough.
