Hi guys. I'm looking forward to changing my single monitor setup to dual monitor setup.
Reason being I'm doing coding and want to have more screen real estate for my VM, editor/IDE and output(browser).
My budget is around RM1000 per monitor, the cheaper the better but would consider if it's worth it. PC is used for movies, surfing and coding. Would like to have at least one monitor rotated 90 degrees. Currently I'm using my 5 year old ViewSonic 2450wm.

I can think of a two options moving forward:
1. Buy two new monitors (most expensive option)
2. Get one new monitor and use it with my existing monitor.

Is there any reason to buy monitor with resolution higher than 1980x1080?

Any help/advice is much appreciated.

of course there is, but does it suits your need and budget. thats another related question.

i like to think resolution is like image quality, the higher resolution the better image quality it produce.
if you are gaming in 4k, sometimes settings like Anti-Aliasing to fix jagged lines is not needed because of the excellent quality it produce. it looks more sharp and crisp.

the thing is the higher resolution, the more demanding hardware it needed to produce the image.
this is where your budget and need will take place.

After some deliberation I've decided to stick to 1980x1080 resolution given the price point and usage for my setup.

TFTCentral selector suggested these models tho:
Dell P2414H
Dell U2414H
Eizo EV2450 (most expensive and hard to come by)

I'm also considering Dell U2417H.

Looked at some table mounted monitor bracket, seems that it's kinda pricey. Might as well buy monitor that support pivot/rotate.
