Does anyone knows how to root Unifi's STB TV Box? Just got my Unifi 30mb package which includes an Android TV box model EC6108V8.
Want to root it so that I can install 3rd party apps like Moviebox,Kodi & ES File explorer.

Need your advice/help sifus.

The new Unifi STB does not require root to install apps from unknown source. You can just sideload those apps' APK file via USB flash drive...but, you need at least a file manager installed from Google Play Store to help in installing the APK. Use OI File Manager from OpenIntents available from Google Play Store (use this successfully from Unifi STB last time with WIFI dynamic IP setup.)

yup you dont need to root. just sideload the apps using file manager which can be install using playstore.

The problem is I can't find or type anything in the search bar for file explorer from Google Playstore to install any .apk. I have cleared all cache & data of Playstore.

Will the STB Box update by itself? If yes, can the auto update be turn off?

Kodi and ES file explorer no need root

moviebox is just redundant with kodi


buy this RM50 keyboard with touchpad and backlit from lazada and you done.

Seriously, anyone here know how to root it? as I need to install apps that need rooted device.

What app is that ? I rooted b4 using kingroot but have side effects on kodi app where my show will auto pause .

the device is sucks... not worth to play game with...

anybody can help me? i want to install kodi in this box, but my playstore always come with error code RH-01...

i already clear the cache for google playstore and google play srvce...still same result

now i cannot download any apps from playstore..

Download Kodi apk file from Kodi's website. Then install using ES explorer.

GOT unifi, buy android box more easy! dump the hyyptv box! small memory and many limitation! those better Android box with S905, 2GB RAM/16GB ROM only cost ~RM300!

What $300??? Less than $150!!!
