As per the title, is it mandatory for Joint Management Bodies (JMB) / Persatuan Penduduk to have their accounts audited?

Given that they are handling public funds, I am of the opinion that the accounts would need to be scrutinised/audited by an independent third party, to ensure no mis-management and/or siphoning of funds.

To confirm, you mean mandatory for them to present their accounts at every AGM,
or to have it audited, and presented at AGM?

From my experience, my Persatuan has glanced thru the accounts (very quickly, mind you), and right after, demands residents to pay for some fees, honing the fact that Persatuan is cash-strapped! And yeah, the accounts are not audited. Not even proper documentations. Only verbal declaration.

Is yours a jmb?
If yes it's audited accounts and its needs to be approved by the residents at the agm

My condo held our 2nd AGM in Nov 2017.
COB rep was present but the proceedings were dodgy.

- Over 1000 units but less than 4% owners could vote.

- Phantom voters were caught on the spot, red-handed, but COB rep denied owners' demands to verify status of attendees.

- Owners elected chairman of meeting but COB rep replaced her with then JMC Chairman.

- No audited accounting report was presented & COB rep said no issue.

- Owner demanded to vote by poll but right was denied.

- New JMC members were elected.

- MA firm refused to give JMB AGM minutes.

- COB confirmed they received the minutes but also refused to give JMB a copy.

Anyway, the AGM was hijacked and it's obvious who are in cahoots.

Nevertheless, JMB terminated dodgy MA who manipulated the AGM but latter refused to do handover.

New property manager was engaged and had to start with zero info.

Anyone can advise if last JMB didn't audit accounts during the 1st year, going forward, can current JMB get the audit done for Dec 2017 to next AGM date in 2018?
