Been using ws880 since Aug 2016 with Unifi. Just running stock firmware. Recently I changed to Time & flashed the ws880 with Merlin. So far so good.

Just wondering has anyone compares this head to head with Asus AC68U? Is there anything that AC68U betters the ws880? Wifi coverage, etc?

I'm using both
AC68U wins in wireless coverage, bigger RAM capacity, lower operating temperatures & original non-stripped out ASUSWRT-Merlin firmware

Thanks for the feedback. What's the fair price for AC68U at the moment? Asus official store at Lazada sells this at RM999

You do realise that is a fair price? Good routers don’t come cheap, especially the AC68U. RM999 is a good deal, unless you want to buy it from overseas, where there won’t be any warranty from Asus Malaysia if you do. There’s even a discount 5%, up to RM100, if you buy now, so it is a good deal.

Definitely. Just remember to apply the voucher. However, I am using the TP Link C3150 v2, and I find it comparable to the Asus, and it’s cheaper as well, so just letting you know you have the option to go cheaper if you want.

Basically T-Mobile rebranded the AC68U with their own fw to sell it cheap in USA. Looks like some1 stock locally. Google around to flash the fw back to ASUS or flash it to Merlin. If u willing to tinker around it looks like a really good bargain.

There's no AiMesh for version WS880.

No longer available to purchase as production ended. Otherwise everyone would buy it. It's one solid router with excellent performance considering it's cheap price. Works even better when flashed with ASUSMERLIN.
