1. Download latest firmware from XWRT-Vortex website
2. Extract the firmware to your harddrive
3. Login into your router from 192.168.1.1
4. Go to: Administration > Firmware Upgrade > Choose File > Locate the .trx file > Click Upload

Very Important:
DO NOT update your firmware through Wi-Fi. If the upload stream is corrupted, you may brick your router. When uploading firmware, always use ethernet cable

If your friend has already flashed Xwrt-Vortex firmware 380.58 for you, it is very easy to flash the latest version 380.61

Just go to Administration --> Firmware Upgrade page, select the downloaded firmware file, which has a .trx extension, and click Upload.  smile.gif

Still a damn good deal, currently using it at home for UniFi 100Mbps. Bought it at RM 199 that time. rclxms.gif

Yes, it is. Router at upstairs, I'm seated at downstairs, I'm able to get 103Mbps on my phone.

It's not about can or can't it run
It's about fixing bugs and vulnerabilities
If the updates stops coming, then you should be worried
Hackers / developers find security holes everyday

Time to get myself the new ASUS RT-AC86U
*
Oh well, I guess I can live with it for a while more. blush.gif
Unless a serious vulnerability is breached..

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Apr 10 2018, 03:55 PM)
XWRT-VORTEX has just released firmware version 380.70 Stable for WS880
Important Note: This will be the final update for Huawei WS880 & Linksys EA6900

Download: http://xvtx.ru/xwrt/download.htm

Changelog: [Mark changes from 380.69_2]
CODE
380.70 (8-Apr-2018)
 - NOTE: This will be the final 380.xx release for all models.
The EA6900 and WS880 support will be dropped,
and R7000 have been migrated to the new gen branch,
         as of release 384.4.

 - CHANGED: Tightened security around some config files.
 - CHANGED: Samba protocol support can now be set to
            SMBv1, SMBv2, or SMBv1 + SMBv2 (the new default).
This will result in a performance drop on all
models, but will be more secure.
Ideally, people should change it to SMBv2 only,
and then reboot all their client devices to start
            using only the new protocol.
If performance is more important than security to
you, then you can switch it back to SMBv1, which is
            the old default behaviour.
 - CHANGED: Switched to the new Entware repo for armv7 models.
To upgrade, run the following commands TWICE:

            opkg update; opkg upgrade

 - FIXED: Apply button not working on the OpenVPN
          Client page.
 - FIXED: Potential racing condition that could lead to two
instances of miniupnpd running at boot time.
 - FIXED: Broken FAQ links (backport from 380_8120)
 - FIXED: Security issue in httpd (CVE-2018-8879).
 - FIXED: Security issues in httpd (backports from 380_8228)

Any issue so far? Else, I'm going to update it when I go back this weekend.

Does it mean that mine shipped directly to Malaysia instead of using a shipment agent?

As i understood, Direct Delivery took 7 days to arrive while Combine Sea Shipping took 1 month to arrive. smile.gif

You can use combined air shipping too which I will use if my visitors from China don't come to Malaysia that time. It's also around a week. Never use sea shipping unless to ship super big stuff which I plan to use when I shop for my house stuff like small furniture and all.

Sometimes the update is slow and maybe 2-3 days once. So long it is already sent to Malaysia then it is OK.

Asking to everyone who bought from Taobao, which local courier did they use for your shipment for local shipping in Malaysia?
Most of my purchases is sent through GDex once it reaches Malaysia
If GDex, the tracking number starts with 863581**** (10 digits)

But this time, the delivery is using another courier which I do not know what company they use for local shipping in Malaysia
The tracking number starts with: 62102506**** (12 digits)

They have Skynet and ABX as well.

With the new announcement of UniFi Turbo, just asking if WS880 is capable of getting 800Mbps (or close to 800Mbps)?

I saw the specs, looks OK but would like to hear from you guys. My UniFi is relocated to my sister's house and my sister is quite meticulous with spending, I'm quite sure she won't be willing to spend more just to get 800Mbps when she is very happy now with 100Mbps. laugh.gif

Luckily I only go back once every fortnight, so I won't use it that much else I will rage if I don't see 800Mbps. laugh.gif
