hey beastx,
the 69'C temp is at full load? or idle temp? cause for my setup, at 2.1Ghz only...and idle, the temp is around 60'C already... and I'm using TAT...so when i start to push the CPU at full load, the temp will go up till about 79 or 80'C... current setting is 266FSB @ 8x multiplier... if i push my FSB to 333, i'll get 2.6Ghz...but my idle temp is up to 75'C around there... what could be possibly wrong? or is it the ambient temp at Japan is way much cooler than Malaysia, thus you're getting better temp reading? i'm using Zalman CNPS9500 heatsink fan btw.... how did you apply your thermal paste?
what thermal paste are you using? at 2.66Ghz, my CPU is already at around 75'C for idle... so it's gonna be a big challenge for me... |

i dunno...maybe it's something wrong with my setup...i'll try setup again....
beastx, when you say load temperature...means u are running prime? or TAT 100% load? |

ok...that's pretty good already...my idle temp is already 75'C @ 333FSB and 2.66GHz speed...
maybe it's chinese new year and hot season in malaysia la...hahaha... motherboard got fried recently...so will have to wait for warranty return before i can verify further what's wrong with my setup ... |

gosh...i'm using kentsfield now...and even at 2.1Ghz only, my idle temp is already 51'C here...
i know beastx is having way better temp compare to mine...i dunno what's wrong with my setup... i'm using Zalman CNPS9500 with shinetsu thermal paste.... i just applied little bit of paste at the centre of CPU before putting the heatsink on... CPU is QX6700... any help here? water cooling will be my last option... |

TAT
and temp between cpu1 and cpu2 got delta around 4'C...but i guess this should be normal as well..can't possibly get same temp right? QUOTE(yehlai @ Mar 24 2007, 01:57 AM) |

I just setup my rig yesterday... QX6700 on Gigabyte DS3 Motherboard... so far the best I achieve is
Proc Speed: 3.04Ghz (380x8) FSB: 380Mhz Vcore @ 1.35V Air cool: Zalman CNPS9500 Ram ratio 1:1, so it should be 760Mhz.... my full load temp is around 75'C and idle temp is around 60'C If i try bumping up the proc speed any higher (change multiplier to 9 or increase FSB to 400Mhz), my system can't even boot into windows... so right now, i guess it's the max i can achieve as of now... updated mine with SuperPI result with CPU-Z capture...
superPI: 17seconds (1M)... is it ok? when i try to increase my multiplier to 9 with 380Mhz FSB to get 3.4Ghz, i need to bump up my Vcore to 1.5V but then my temperature not stable using air cooling..already almost reaching 90'C at TAT... need water cooling next liao...hehehe... if you don't want the 1.6Ghz at idle, go disable the C1E...that's the power saving feature for intel proc...
u can disable at bios...

Juz tested E6420 @ Stock Core 2 Duo E6420 2.13Ghz 4MB Cache, DFI Infinity 975X/G, A-Data 1GB DDR2 800 x2, @ Stock Heatsink sorry guyz juz notice the cpu-z core speed @ 1.6Ghz coz is at idle mode..... Eh maybe u should update ur cpu-z..its seems outdated a bit..post some of the overclock result man....really interested in this proc....
|

i think this is the best i can achieve for now...looks like i can't go anywhere above 3.2Ghz or else the processor will be very hot for my system...once it goes above 80'C, the speed will automatically lower down and i guess that's due to throttling...
if I try to play on FSB, then i have to lower my CPU multiplier and i don't think i can achieve 3.2Ghz...ram/FSB not too stable above 400Mhz...haven't got the sweet spot yet... i think my Vcore setting at bios is around 1.3875V Attached thumbnail(s) |

quazacolt,
60-70ish on core temp? is it at full load? if yes, then very good leh... my idle is around 59-61'C...and if push full load on all 4 cores using prime95, it can go up till about 77'C...the temp reading is based on TAT... as for the temp, don't worry la...even at 70'C, i dont' think the speed will degrade that much... for processors, voltage is more sensitive compare to temperature...so try keeping the voltage as low as possible... with ur current setup, how long you intend to prolong the lifespan of your CPU? haha... by the time your PC is 4years old...maybe outdated and you already planning to upgrade PC liao.... kekeke... QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jun 18 2007, 03:29 PM) can clarify on lapping my vx? dont quite understand that. also its currently running at 40-50celcius temp on probe/BIOS monitor and 60-70ish on core temp... didnt seem so extreme as compared to orthos stress for 12 hours XD regardless i would like to lower the temp, be it prolonging my proc lifespan (like it'll happen being overvolted minorly and oc'ed lol) or further oc'ing |

bro... full load should not be 110-120'C ler....
mine...at full load... reach about 77'C only... i think better lower down ur freq...110'C definitely overkills ur proc liao... QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jun 20 2007, 11:53 AM) not full load bro. partial load and stuff. on orthos stress test full load 100% all 4 cores are around 110-120celcius :/ my vcore is only 1.4 i intended to have it live through 3-5 years... hoping longer... lol cuz the next pc purchase will also be on a similiar budget and if it cant live through 4-5 years at least my pocket will die lol |
