Tried two units, crap like hell. But doesn't means ALL are bad, some aren't. Just has to depends on luck.

golden week of 6300 ?

L628, L629, L631. A or B, should be fine. There's many more to it, not necessary have to get those weeks. Some newer batch I seen can clock as good as those older batchs.

I got a L633 F batch, very good. 3.2Ghz @ 1.31v, compared to my previous L629B, 3.2ghz needs 1.45v. I searched through some sites last time, some said F is good, some said F is lousy. sweat.gif

hehe btw how much maximum vcore that c2d can hander ?

Nah, those batches are just good overclockers, but doesn't mean all can reach 500 x 7 too. Have to really depends on your luck. Get one, test it out. Not satisfied? Sell old one and get another new unit. laugh.gif

Yea, don't forget processor has FSB wall. My previous L629B maxed out at 480FSB, L633F can go over 500FSB. Even I set 481FSB with 1.6v also cannot boot. sad.gif

Nice chip there. Still need more users who own F batch to post their results here. See how good F batch can be. E6300/6400 tends to has different results with E6600. What I found in most sites with F batch is E6600. Would like to see more from E6300/6400.

Added on April 15, 2007, 2:51 pmHow much vcore you applied to archieve almost 4Ghz btw?

Wanna ask around if anyone gets real vcore value higher than BIOS set vcore value before?

I pencil modded my P5N-E SLI and I BIOS set 1.325, real gives me 1.344v, BIOS 1.3v, real 1.328v. sweat.gif

Normal? Safe?

I'm using 3rd and 4th now. The first 2 ram slots are not stable when I get back from RMA yesterday. The board is abit weird cause even I plug in one RAM, CPU-Z shows dual channel. Same thing when I plug into 3rd and 4th, which is yellow and black slots. Awaiting reply from supplier now. sweat.gif

What about FSB, RAM speed and timing used? I believe your RAM is D9 chipset, no? 1.6v vcore with a little vdroop to let's say 1.55v should be enough to get E6600 to run 3.4Ghz.

Try this settings.

400FSB x 8, DRAM timing 4-4-4-12 if its D9GXX, or 5-5-5-15 if you want to be on the safe side.

Vdimm 2.0v
Vcore 1.5v to 1.55v
Vmch +0.2v <-- is this NB voltage? sweat.gif

Then you might want to try >400FSB with 7x multiplier. This to find what's the highest FSB the proc can go, cause there will be a FSB wall.

Lower multiplier because it's to test the how high the FSB the proc can reach with lower speed. If you're going to test >400FSB with 9x multiplier, you're already reaching over 3.6ghz at least.

You might want to try 450 x 7 = 3.15Ghz first.

For DDR2, higher frequency is much more better than tight timing.

Eg.

1000 4-4-4-12 vs 1200 5-5-5-15, the latter should perform better.

Its not Vista bug either. Orthos will only recognize the default multiplier. Like E6700 has 10x, and you set for example 400 x 8, it will shows 4Ghz instead.

@Suk

Your DS3 has a vdroop of around 0.08v, which is pretty bad I would say. So just remember this vdroop value, it will helps you in future overclocking. Your RAM timing you can set to 5-5-5-15 instead using auto.

Now you might want to try 450 x 8, which is 3.6Ghz. Just now I get to test out one E6600 with batch L651B, 450 x 8, 1.4vcore bootable.

What voltage do u suggest ?

What vcore in BIOS you set? Try 1.5v BIOS, should give you 1.42v real.

this what i meant by 'vista bug'...
the correct one is CPUZ and Everest Vista Sidebar, but the Vista System Properties shown 3.83Ghz just like the one shown in Orthos...

Windows XP also has the same problem actually.

@remysix

Bootable only, not sure in Windows will be stable or not. Don't want to overclock too much as the system belongs to my customer. biggrin.gif Anyway, gonna see 3.6ghz @ 1.4vcore will be stable or not tomorrow. Yet to install Windows XP onto it.
