havent got it yet...maybe another week or so...dunno how it will perform...really2 hope to get a great batch and high flyer in terms of oc wif minimal vcore

hmm .... theres nothing wrong with my bios ... set as 1.325v but why cpu-z shows 1.344
*
if that's the case, i salute u for having the e63 runs at 3.4g wif stock vcore bro notworthy.gif ...mine can only do 3.2g at stock, 3.3g at 1.3625 and 3.4g...mmm...havent figured out the stable vcore...and yes, i'm talking about stable speed vs vcore sweat.gif

*
ur is the ES one rite...so i guess it would be ok since (correct me if i'm wrong) ES is known to produce more heat...

@bbmk,
at what vcore (bios) did u run ur proc with that speed...3.36g is ok edi it think...unless u need to pump high vcore sweat.gif

tat is orthos bug,try use other software to check the vcore,and if possible..try better psu nod.gif
*
what do u mean orthos bug...did u mean the speed shown...
if the speed, then it's vista 'bug' actually...mine is showing 3.83Ghz...but Everest and CPUZ showing the right speed...vista seems to ignore the multiplier change...for e66, it still use 9x...so, mine is running at 486fsb...times 9 = 3.83Ghz...the rite speeed is actually 486x8 = 3.4Ghz doh.gif

QUOTE(Hyde`fK @ May 16 2007, 08:34 PM)
Its not Vista bug either. Orthos will only recognize the default multiplier. Like E6700 has 10x, and you set for example 400 x 8, it will shows 4Ghz instead.

@Suk

Your DS3 has a vdroop of around 0.08v, which is pretty bad I would say. So just remember this vdroop value, it will helps you in future overclocking. Your RAM timing you can set to 5-5-5-15 instead using auto.

*
this what i meant by 'vista bug'...
the correct one is CPUZ and Everest Vista Sidebar, but the Vista System Properties shown 3.83Ghz just like the one shown in Orthos...

QUOTE
Now you might want to try 450 x 8, which is 3.6Ghz. Just now I get to test out one E6600 with batch L651B, 450 x 8, 1.4vcore bootable.

damn...just 1 week diff but the performance wise is drool.gif

What vcore in BIOS you set? Try 1.5v BIOS, should give you 1.42v real.
Windows XP also has the same problem actually.

Added on May 16, 2007, 9:34 pm
3.4Ghz actually
*
hmmm...is that so...well, never had mine with XP but the orthos, yes, always buggy when playing with multiplier, just remember blush.gif

btw got one buyer from tmj E6600 can get 3.6 same batch with us

@Suk, at what vcore???

@remysix

Bootable only, not sure in Windows will be stable or not. Don't want to overclock too much as the system belongs to my customer. biggrin.gif Anyway, gonna see 3.6ghz @ 1.4vcore will be stable or not tomorrow. Yet to install Windows XP onto it.
*
but 3.6@1.4...we could only be dreaming to boot up at that vcore...mine can load windows at 1.575vcore...boot up might be lesser but didnt try how low...
time will tell whether i can run my proc at lower vcore or not at 3.5-3.6G...burn baby, burn!!!

not really,sometime a good batch proc can boot @ 3.2ghz stock voltage,hyde using 3.6ghz @ 1.4v is kinda good batch processor....i think he able to do it.
*
by 'we' i meant mine and Suk...the new batch...L652B128...i could boot into windows at 3.6G but wif 1.575vcore...that's why i said 'we could only dream to achieve what hyde's said wif that vcore' i.e. our batch sux...

Actually need a lot of attempts if u really want to max out the proc speed.
mine at the beggining only can reach 3.5+GHz only. Done many tiral and error, modify on NB and proc cooling, adjusting vCore, vMCH,  vDimm & timing bla3.... need some time and effort, also different set up have diff result, other ppl cant help u much aactually  wink.gif

ur PSU is reliable? no offence, dont push too far with icute. I own it b4, not so stable.
*
that's the plain truth...did that wif my e63...most prolly u wont see the 'wanted' result too soon unless u have a very good batch...to me, as long as it can touch the speed i want with whatever vcore (reasonable one), i'm ok...give it some time, the vcore needed might be lower down...and then i could run it 24/7...
trial and error is the fun part of OC rclxms.gif

anyway,the new batch really got oc potential at all?

have u tried beyond 3.6ghz with higher vcore?
oh ya,what's the temp?
*
i'll go another round tonite whether i can touch higher speed with whatever vcore...who knows that the new batch is just like the BH6 ddr...need high voltage to shine...hehehhee

u mean it blow the PSU dead?.....wow....anyway, mine also the same..can boot and play games(battlefield and C&C TW) at 3.6G with 1.45vbios but when i bench with SuperPI 32M it is not stable.vdroop cause my cpu run with 1.40v.when i set vcore 1.5v  vdroop give only 1.42vcore but somehow it run good with games,sPi 32m and prime.
*
just noticed that ur e66 is the same week as mine and Suk but diff lot...maybe i could try the 400x9 later with that vcore...mmm...but i think tried that already...but who knows...

u r still using gigabyte ds4 is it?if gigabyte u might want to try flashing ur bios.my cpu idle temp is 32 degree C and full cpu temp is 49 degree C.
*
ofcourse u r bro, u r using WC...anyway, already on F8...latest official bios...temp is not a prob for me...wif 1.575v...idle at 42c and load around 66c...coretemp around 68c...that's what u get wif air cooling and quite stuffy room...i had a higher load temp before but still passed orthos for 50 hours...
anyway, no go wif 400x9...gonna stick to 3.5G and let it burn some more and see if there is any change in the vcore needed...anyway, passed POST at 3.8G@1.6v but no windows loading...

sidetrack a bit...between P965-S Dark and evga 680i...which would u recommend taking into consideration of the performance over price...

last time when i bought gigabyte ds3, i was bundled with f4 bios.i tried overclock with bios f7,f8,f9,f10,f11.the best bios was f10.this is different with the review i've read.they said f7 was the best.right now ds4 has f9 bios.maybe you can try that.

windows not loading might be due to temp.it just stop when full cpu load due to windows loading.unless BSOD then your memory is the problem.if your temp is high,you might need more voltage.ds4 has 6 phase if i'm not mistaken.ur prob i think is more to the temp.some people clock e6600 4Ghz++ with prometeia at 1.6++vcore.

anyway, 680i support fsb 1333 <---future upgrade and blah...blah...blah.performance just better than 965 in difference of seconds.not really important.unless you r a die hard overclocker.

p/s:-most people use asus p5b deluxe for c2d OC.they got higher clock.
*
thanks...
dowloading the f9 rite now...so far, i think for my mobo f6 gave me a better stable oc...gonna check out the f9...
