you should take some time to look out for the JTB offers on tours for foreigners. From Nagoya, Kyoto/Osaka should only be around 10-12K yen (less than RM400) for a round trip Shinkansen ticket and a 3D2N stay.
If you are interested in castles and stuff like that, it would be worth checking out 二条城(nijoujou) in Kyoto or Himeji Castle in Hyogo. Those are the few castles left that are not "reconstructed" or "rebuilt" (IOW, "Original")

I find this very odd. JTB Malaysia is all in Japanese without an English version..

@oe_kintaro, thanks but I m already in japan so i guess i cant take advantage of JTB but i do plan to go to kyoto this weekend for the castle. hope to go to kyoto on sat then osaka on sun. i heard that nara is really nice.. hyogo sounds familiar, where is it?

i just found out where himeji is in... hmm it is further away than osaka. i read tht it is the biggest castle in asia. i m now wondering should i visit it if i am going to visit the castles in kyoto... there are so many castles and shrines in japan!

there aren't many of them around I think.
those 2 I mentioned are the only ones I can think of at the top of my head
Himeji is said to be the most beautiful and magnificent of all the castles, and rightly so. you should visit it in the spring if you have a chance.
Kyoto alone is over a thousand shrines and temples and it may not be feasible to visit all..
