i don't recall ever being asked for ic or passport....but it would be easy to verify the name on the card with the boarding pass...

that's only on the assumption that you are going to dine at these places, even if you do not have the b1f1 benefit...if you would otherwise have gone elsewhere (perhaps cheaper), but then decided to go to the steakhouse because of the b1f1, then the savings may not be really that much...and the merchant has achieved their purpose...ie pull you into their establishment....

Wonder if any msian banks have online activation/notification of overseas travel?....

I think it's a matter of time before they introduce some kind of controls....I rather they do that and make it sustainable, then to scrap the perk....I would be happy if they restrict it to 5 entries a year per card....

you will need to resubmit new documents in support, just like any new application....in fact, when i asked for them to reduce my limit, they cautioned that in future, if i want to increase my limit back to the original assigned one, i will need to resubmit supporting documents...

don't need the very high limit they set...cards mainly used for lounge entry and overseas...and i have other cards for high value purchases...

do i take that to mean ppl changi also allow entry to someone not named in the card?...

It was a "promotion" for last year, and supposed to end at end of year....But Ambank continued the unlimited entry....It's a matter of time before they end it....

To apply for any new cards, even from​ the same bank and lower category, you need to resubmit all the documents...So it is better to keep existing cards...

Some banks, even to request for increase in limit, also need to submit income statements...

with unlimited entry, it is obvious some will abuse the privilege by using the cards to "charge" multiply entries to cover friends and travelling companions...so i have always wondered about when they will put some controls...

i think this new rule is sensible...

with one caveat...if one has a transit, there may be a problem....use a lounge before departure, and then want to use again at the transit airport, within the same day, he will be unable to now....unless he has more than one card...

as for charging for more than 3 hrs, when i used the ppl at changi last year for an overnight transit, i used 2 different cards, to claim two 3hrs blocks....didn't ask at that time is i can swipe the same card twice....

if there is no restriction, then it matters not....i have tested and can confirm they will accept using 2 cards from the same bank at the same time to bring in your travelling companion in tgm at changi....since there is not limit nor restriction, technically they can swipe the same card twice at the same time for 2 paxs...

this new rule will now stop that....

i have always maintain that ambank's current practice in allowing unlimited entries is not sustainable...

I have visited 3 lounges within a day because of transits...but always used different cards, I have 5 to choose from...

the ambank internet banking site annoyingly does not display the transacted amount in the foreign currency, just the myr amount....and i already threw away the invoices....

certainly a lot of deficiencies in ambank operations....if not for the unlimited lounge access...
