Did 7x online transactions (TM online, Astro.com and MaxisPay) and 1x retail transaction, all RM50 each.

I keep on getting sms alerts - multiple transactions from cards - from 4th to 8th transactions.

Good feature although very annoying.

Yes, me too! I was starting to worry that my card would be blocked, but thankfully everything went smoothly.

Vouchers are my last resort in weeks which I really have no spending. Or, if I know have to buy stuff (especially cosmetics) which would normally not have CB anyway.

For TNG I reload RM50x8. My car expenses  are fully paid by company so the service charge doesn't bother me. Even if they were not paid by company, for every RM50 grocery swipe with my WMC, I will get:

RM5 WMC 10% cashback
RM6.25 promo 12% cashback

The 0.53 service charge is negligible.
*
Sorry if i miss any important point, if you use WMC you will get 22% cashback? I thought it's 10% (wmc promo) + rm50 for 8x swipe

Also Just to share on reloading TnG at Jaya Grocer, i asked the cashier on the 53 cent service charges and they told me is 53 cents per transaction. So, if swipe 8x will be 0.53 x 8.

This refers to swiping RM50 x 8 TNG (i.e. total RM400) with WMC at Jaya Grocer.

10% cashback = RM40
RM50 for 8 swipes is effectively 12.5%
Minus service charge (0.53 x 8 = 4.24

Returns = 40 + 50 - 4.24 = 85.76
Effective cashback = 85.76 / 400 = 21.44%

That's my strategy.

And the plus for me is that the RM400 TNG (including the 4.24 service charge) is fully claimable from my company.

If you do the same for PBB VS, you will get:

Returns = 24 + 50 - 4.24 = 69.76
Effective cashback = 69.76 / 400 = 17.44%

Thanks for sharing.

Edit: Sorry OT: WMC 10% promo can be used in conjunction with Swipe More promo? Else, how do you get 50 CB for WMC?

Oh man. I totally forgot that the WMC promo 10% is not the same as VS 6% card feature. To be safer, I think should swipe VS incase WMC 10% swipes are excluded (since that's what the TNC says).

VS definitely will get both standard and promo cash back so it's a much safer bet.

Actually why the bank want to enforce multiple swipes for the promotion??
Isn't it easier just to enforce minimum spend?? *Easier for us anyway tongue.gif
They are going to finish the RM1 mil allocation anyway right?

higher difficulty, higher gain laugh.gif

i actually prefer this 5x/8x as i can mix-and-match different bill payment for as low as RM50 per swipe.

Agreed. And the max spending of RM400 means that if you want to get cashback for all 21 weeks, its only total RM8.400 compared to the previous RM1,000 per week whcih would require RM20,000 expenditure.

Also, "cost" of failure is much lower. Even if you swipe only 5 times (i.e. spend RM250), you will still get high cashback yield.

Imho... usually when they design this promo... they assumption will be ppl swipe more than rm50 per transaction... i mean if you really go to retail purchase and so on... how can get exact rm50? So usually when you swipe.. you tend to spend more... but in any promo... sure got ppl finding ingenious ways to maximize it ... haha.. but probably it is a small population so the wider card users will spend more also... i guess that is why going for 5x/8x probably more worth for bank....

Just my 2 cents...

Yeh you're right about them hoping you spend more. I purposely scheduled a hair cut and dentist appointment today to swipe 2x. Both cost more than 100, but they account for 2 swipes and normally won't get cashback from other cards.

Knowing from your style, I thought you will ask them to swipe in multiple of rm 50s to get more than 2X swipes? Huahaha...

Just confirmed with CS, maxis pay transactions will not be considered for the latest promo as it falls under utility payments.
