Schweinsteiger, Blind & Mata is up for sale.
Do we need Pogba? Let me ask you guys WHY we don't need Pogba. Have you even seen how he played in Serie A? Granted, the playing style in Italy is different AND the way Deschamps played him during the Euros was also different. £100 million too much? If we can fetch minimum £50m from the sale of above 3, will that then be justifiable? The only thing you guys have about your reservation on Pogba is your ego. You guys are sore that we let him go for free. Swallow the ego & welcome him back. He's worth it. Who else would you guys rather have? James Rodriquez? Latino players rarely work for Utd. Sissoko? Lol. |

How the heck did we miss out on Kante if he's willing to forgo UCL football with no European football at all?? How??? And he was available for just £32m!! Surely we needed him more looking at our current lineups of DM?

QUOTE(tontolou @ Jul 17 2016, 11:40 AM) we have 3 players available in that position. Actually 5 if you include Bastian. Look, yeah there's a glut in that position but Carrick & Bastian are not gonna be regular in the side, let's be honest. Schneiderlin had a nightmarish season in a position he should be thriving under LVG's system (or philosophy). If JM go ahead & buy Matic from Chelsea, how daft would that be knowing Kante was available? The 2 Sch and Carrick. If you add Blind there, we have 4. We cant be buying more and let them rot in the bench, right... |

QUOTE(Wan @ Jul 22 2016, 12:30 AM) Realistic targets. And remember we signed Rio Ferdinand for £30m way back in 2002 smashing the world record for a defender. It was thought to be a crazy price back then & relative to the expected Pogba's cost, about the same percentage off Utd's turnover (19%). And we all know how many trophies Rio has lifted with Utd. He signed Zlatan on a free, Mkhitaryan with only a year left on his contract and got Bailly for the CB position. Could have gone crazy and ask for the likes of Bonucci/Hazard/Lewa that would cost more but he went for them instead. And we were very much interested in that Renato kid. Who knows whether he was our first option for the CM position or whether he was just a talent that we can't pass up upon. My money is on the latter. It was rumoured that he was going to be our manager around Dec-Jan, and Moratti's sister spoke about him going to Manchester back in Feb. So he has plenty of time to analyse the squad. Identified 4 spots and already gotten 3. And according to him have 2 more options for the CM spot if we fail to get Pogba. As for the financial part we just have to trust the people that run the business side of the club. They've been fantastic. I trust their judgement regarding what we can and can't afford. SAF bought many expensive players. Keane cost quite a lot back then. Stam and then Rio were the most expensive defenders in their time..British record for any player wrt to Rio I think for a while. Buffon went for 53m eur back in 2001. Just imagine what he would cost in todays market. Heck Newcastle are about to get 60m gbp for 2 of their players. They got relegated last season. Isn't it great news to ever hear that Madrid & Barca are "priced out" of players for once? I really do the signing can be confirmed next few days. Haters will continue to hate. Look at Arsenal. Who have they bought? Look at Liverpool. Raiding Southampton again. And if Pogba completes our summer transfer, phewwwww....what a summer! And all without UCL football. |

What guarantee that if we sign other midfielders the result would be positive? An expensive mistake you guys might think. Utd is rich enough for goodness sake. £100m or whatever amount it may be constitute just 20% of Utd's annual turnover. Who can afford Pogba except for Utd, RM, Barca & City? Surely you wouldn't want him to end up at City?

And why are you guys whining anyway? U want marquee signing. Pogba is a marquee signing. Pool's marquee signing is Mane. Arsenal's Xhaka. City's err...Sterling owai...De Bruyne.

QUOTE(alien2003 @ Jul 25 2016, 09:30 PM) I think what some of us here (including myself) meant is that at this point of time, is he (Pogba) worth this huge price tag? For me and some of us here, the answer is definitely no. Yes, he has room for further development and he could easily develop into a world beaters and cost even more but my point is, at the moment he is not worth this price tag. We are not owners of the club. Our only contribution to the coffers are the odd merchandise, TV money & perhaps if some of us are lucky, match day tickets. As I've said in previous comments, £100m is just 20% of Utd's annual turnover. It's equivalent to what Utd paid for Rio all those years ago.Whether the club itself is rich enough to spend such sum of money is irrelevant. Just because we can afford it, doesn't mean we must/have to do it. QUOTE(wengchuan @ Jul 25 2016, 09:40 PM) It's not about whether we can afford or not. If the deal went through, it will set a bad example for future signings. I'm afraid all other club will do the same "Oh United is interested, let's raise the price" All teams have been doing that to Utd many moons ago. If Pogba is worth 120m pounds, I wonder how much a 40 goals a season striker will be sold to us in the future QUOTE(bansai @ Jul 26 2016, 01:15 AM) I didn't say God is not a marquee signing. We are Utd. We should be able to get 1 or 2 marquee signings per season. Or 3. |

QUOTE(bansai @ Jul 26 2016, 11:24 AM) Fans are everything to the club. Without fans, might as well close shop. Well, yes & no. Yes the club is in debt but no, so as long as it can generate enough income I think it's a steady ship. That's business anyway. Think of it like a company investing in R&D which is essential to maintain a competitive edge. Pogba is an investment no doubt & they were not joking when the aura of his name itself can generate lots of money. The shirt business itself pays back a lot of that transfer money. Why do you think nowadays the clubs come out with new kits every season instead of as it used to once every 2 seasons?Right now, the clubs debt is still very very high and there are so many new developments that are coming up in the new stadium, refurbishment of OT, youth development and an untold number of investments. The owners can exit anytime and leave United in debt and have to fork out huge wages for players and also their families. At the end, the fans will suffer. We had another big marquee signing in depay. Top player, but not performing at the moment for United, but the transfer was alot smaller than what is floating around for pogba. Martials transfer number were exaggerated since most of his fee was performance based. |

OK, the twist & turns of the Pogba saga is getting to much already. If you're not following social media then you're safe. Either get him already or forget it.

United takes 10-15% from the shirt sale. Meaning if the sales figure remain constant, they'll recoup the £100m for Pogba in oh...12 weeks? Totally worth it!
