If i'm not mistaken, Chelsea played 4-3-3 during the first Mourinho era. Makelele sits deep, while Lampard and another centre midfielder play ahead of him.

Thats right, but very rigid and tight. Now mourinho is playing tight but positioning not as rigid. Maybe players haven't adapted yet.

More interested with Mickie than pogba at the moment. Really feel that he can supply Zlatan with lots of chances. Martial seems to be lacking of confidence at the moment, rather let Rashford try.

can konfem this, 4-3-3 Wingers was Mou fav formation during his first term with Chelsea. Solid and efficient machine. No nonsense passing game, everything was about accuracy and descipline.

afro man can handle high crossing ball from Shaw or Valencia.. that's his nature to put ball in the net with his hair..
No offense, carrick have to same issue with captain, slow down the attacking football with back pass.
Rooney can be sub.. because the way he play for last week is way to slow and partnership with Zlatan still to be improve..

On afro, he won't be going up often, he's there to protect the back 4 and head balls away. If Pogba plays, no point in having him in. Rather have Morgan whom is more defensive minded to protect our 100m investment.

With Bailly protecting blind, it seems quite solid at the back. Have to see what will happen when blind is isolated. See how he holds up.

Actually Carrick used to do lots of through ball or long ball to the front that open up space... but LVG successfully turned him into sideway or backpass kind of player..

hopefully Mourinho can change his mentality and becoming his former himself..

I always think the way blind plays really makes it easier for it's partner. Smalling felt the advantage last season, and now we have better player in Bailly so the positive impact of this partnership is better than Blind - Smalling.

Interesting to see how will Bailly - Smalling partnership turns out ..

Rumours of Gabriel Barbosa moving to Man United are starting to fly out quick.

I'd rather have Ibra and Rashford(and Rooney ) as strikers. Signing the aforementioned might limit the first team chances for Rashford.

Smalling + blind feels like balls banging... Solid together, but just don't feel right..

Yet to see how Bailly + smalling..

Have seen nothing of Gabriel Barbosa that makes me want to play him ahead of Rashford. They are off same age so why are we going for Barbosa when Rashford isn't even starting.
