Actually that button doesnt boost power or save fuel on your car. "Power" mode simply able to let you rev your engine higher before shifting gear, while "Economy" mode will shift earlier to prevent you from rev higher to save fuel. But if you got a heavy right foot, it doesnt make any difference coz when you full throttle in "Economy" mode, your right foot override the so call "Economy" mode to rev higher. 
Well, the PWR mode responds faster and revs higher to maximise the powerband but for my ECO, the 1st gear itself will rev till 5.2K only then it shifts, but for PWR mode it goes all the way till 6.3K rpm then only it shifts....weird though
If you drive normally, the PWR mode will let you rev higher then only it shift gears, if you drive like 90km/h, might as well use ECO which it shifts fast to the highest gear
