Hello everyone, As usual, I must admit that I am a noob when it comes to cars. I have a Wira 1.6(A) 1993, my question is about a button which is located near the hand brake. It allows you to switch to either 'Pwr' or 'Eco' mode. After going through the very very old supplied manual, it seems that 'Pwr' = Power mode which gives you more power, while 'Eco'=Economical mode which gives you fuel economy. What i wanna ask is, does it really work? I've tried it but seems like there is no difference when I switch between the 2. And how does it actually work? Is it recommended to put it on 'Eco' or 'Pwr' mode? Many thanks in advance to all those who will reply

Driven the Wira 1.6A before. Buttons are for POWER and ECO are as the members already mentioned; POWER - higher fuel consumption, better pickup. ECO-suppose to be lower fuel consumption, pickup slower. Urban drive, put POWER. If put ECO-fuel consumption also quite high. Use ECO on highways. Have tried it on the highways, yes there is difference in consumption.

Hmmm seriously put it on POWER for urban drive? Why is that?
Currently I always drive in the city and with ECO mode, the fuel consumption is already digging deep into my pocket already.

I used Power during urban drive just to get some faster pickup. I had a heavy foot. The 1.6A is quite powerful for its class. Of course, this advantage doesn't come cheap either. Consumption was a bit high. I had this car way back, so I don't remember the actual FC. Anyway you did say that your car is '97. So consumption should be very high now.
BTW, my colleague also had this car way back also. He had gearbox problem. Did you any experience this problem.

Just about to ask you all also, how do I know if my gearbox is working fine and when do I know when to change the gearbox oil ? Working or not? This one I don't know how to answer. If your car still moving then it should be ok. Try other auto cars then you might notice the difference. Gearbox oil change - interval of 40,000km. Must also do flushing. Does other members have other idea about this?

Actually that button doesnt boost power or save fuel on your car. "Power" mode simply able to let you rev your engine higher before shifting gear, while "Economy" mode will shift earlier to prevent you from rev higher to save fuel. But if you got a heavy right foot, it doesnt make any difference coz when you full throttle in "Economy" mode, your right foot override the so call "Economy" mode to rev higher.

Well, the PWR mode responds faster and revs higher to maximise the powerband but for my ECO, the 1st gear itself will rev till 5.2K only then it shifts, but for PWR mode it goes all the way till 6.3K rpm then only it shifts....weird though If you drive normally, the PWR mode will let you rev higher then only it shift gears, if you drive like 90km/h, might as well use ECO which it shifts fast to the highest gear
