Hi guys, been quite a lurker in the thread but need some pointers and help on some macross merchandise.

I've been collecting Yamato 1/48 and 1/60 Valks for a while now (10-15 years i reckon) and have built quite a collection which I partly disposed off few years back due to family commitments and storage issues.

I've recently crawled back into the hobby of collecting valks, (albeit I'm not really a big fan of the Frontier/Delta series - more of an old school Macross fan), and stumbled across Bandai's Hi-Metal R Series. I picked up the recent VF-1A Hikaru with Super Pack and kinda think it's detailed enough for my liking and small enough to tuck away in a small display set.

Problem is, I've realised it's not really talked about much here and I can't seem to find any other Hi-Metal R Valks in the market.

I'm particularly interested in the following:

VF-1S Roy Focker with Strike Pack

VF-1j Hikaru with reactive armor

Given that the above are of certain age, I reckon my chances are slim to get them or even at reasonable price, but if any of you guys have any leads to the above, do let me know smile.gif Would also like to hear from all the sifus here on your experience with Hi-Metal R, or even the Arcadia versions.

Thanks!

More keen on dx actually, tired with model kit that's why I put gunpla on a hold now, wanna collect more high end figure instead, blame sentinel toys for poisoning me sad.gif

I do wish I can find them locally but those website running out of pre-order really quick, and seldom able to find older release

Another question, DX kits only have several area with diecast right? the plane surface is plastic?

Hi mate! Welcome onboard!

I've been collecting macrosses but mainly the old 1/48 and 1/60 v2 yamato lines. Old timer here sad.gif

I've done a few purchases online through Mandarake, AmiAmi and HLJ. No issues with most. So long you bear in mind that you'll have to fork out extras for shipping and (occasional) custom tax, you're all set, and it might be cheaper than getting the same thing locally.

I've also done some purchases locally through seller named Kira77 in lowyat forum. Really nice guy to deal with. Have also purchased from Carousell and other macross forum members as well.

to me yamato 1/60, 1/48 and bandai dx chogokin 1/60 is the way to collect for macross as they are big in size and easy to transform.

Below is sample for some of my macross collection from yamato series and bandai dx chogokin series.

I presume the VF-1J Hikaru is in 1/48 scale as well?

Mine arrived today and is out for delivery by DHL. Shipped from Japan on Monday and arrived today.

HLJ's shipping costs for EMS and DHL were 1,500 yen apart, so I thought what the heck, might as well get the fastest and most reliable rclxm9.gif

As for Customs, shipped from Japan 6 times this two months and none of which got taxed. Either it's the Tax holiday (till 31 Aug) or I'm just extremely lucky
