For CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard:

1) How should I set SMS transaction alert to RM 1? By calling CIMB CS, or filling up a form?

2) I have access to CIMB Clicks, since I have a CIMB saving account. Once I have activated CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard, is the card automatically linked to my CIMB Clicks, and I can pay the credit card bill, using CIMB saving account?

3) How do I subscribe to e-Statement for the credit card?

4) Is the cashback for this card given, based on transaction date or posting date?

5) When is the cashback for October 2016 transactions given? 28 November 2016, I guess?

Thank you for the information given. smile.gif

Thank you for your information. rclxms.gif

Assume that CIMB card center is still open. What would be the best way to apply for CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard? Applying at CIMB card center, or online?

Ok, I have read the eligible list for 5% online cashback in the first post. But, the list does not mention about the pharmacy websites.

For CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard, did anyone manage to obtain 5% online cashback for the following websites?
- Caring Pharmacy Estore http://estore.caring2u.com
- Guardian Online
- Watsons Online

Page 3 of the Terms and Conditions, as given in the first post, states that:

"The Cash Rebates earned by the Cardholder for each current month will be calculated (rounded to the nearest Malaysian Ringgit)..."

What would be minimum spend amount per month, in order to obtain the maximum 5% online cashback, which is RM 30?

a) RM 580.20 x 5% = RM 29.01 (rounded up to RM 30.00), or:

b) RM 590.00 x 5% = RM 29.50 (rounded up to RM 30.00)

Thank you for the information. rclxms.gif

If you read t&c thoroughly, aside from utilities, airlines and some other category, everything bought online usually should fall under the online category. Since no one has actually tried those 3 online store, nobody reported on the success/failure. I would guess one should entitle, but could be wrong. You can test it report it for the benefit of other ppl here too.

Thanks for the advice, adele123. I am just asking, if there are other cardholders who have gained cashback from these pharmacy website, but did not inform the TS about it. Yeah, I will try it, once I have obtained this credit card.

Other than usual MCC, the eligibility to obtain 5% online cashback is based on POSMODE 81. So, it is a bit different and tricky, compared to other online cashback credit cards. I just want to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your information. notworthy.gif

So, it is confirmed that we have spend exactly RM 600.00 (not a cent less), in order to get the maximum 5% online cashback, which is RM 30.

It is a misleading clause in their terms and conditions, and CIMB Bank does not fulfil their terms and conditions. mad.gif bangwall.gif

if you want to get your 5%, here are the steps :-

1) Send an email to CRU@cimb.com that you did not receive your 5%

If still no reply after a week

2) Just forward the email sent above to bnmtelelink@bnm.gov.my with your IC & mobile number

You will receive an email from someone in the CRU team that will ask for the screenshots that it is an online transaction. After sending the requested details

3) 5% cashback will be added manually into your statement
*
As long as we have the screenshot and it is not Airlines (MCC 3000-3299,4511), Insurance (MCC 5960,6300), Utility (MCC 4900) and Mobile Bill Payments (MCC 4813,4814), we have the right to request for 5% online cashback, right?

After this manual crediting, CIMB should add the merchant into their eligible list for 5% online cashback. Hopefully, we do not need to send this e-mail, each time we perform the transaction on this merchant. sweat.gif

For CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard:

1) What is the minimum spending amount to get 5% for online spending? For example, if I spend RM 1.00 for online spending, would I get RM 0.05 cashback?
Yes, I understand that the maximum 5% cashback is capped at RM 30.00, based on the spending of RM 600.00.

2) Can I set the credit card PIN in CIMB Clicks, without using CIMB ATM?

3) Some cardholders managed to change their statement date, from the original 28th of every month. How did they do it? By calling CIMB CS, or filling up a form? What are other statement dates that can be chosen?

4) For online credit card application (https://www.cimbclicks.com.my/creditCard.html and TnC), 20 % cashback will be given for the first RM 500.00 spending, using the newly approved credit card. Suppose that I spend RM 600.00 entirely for online cashback on my newly approved CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard.

Would I get?
a) RM 30.00 of cashback, due to the default feature of 5% for online spending of RM 600.00, and;

b) another RM 100.00 of cashback, due to 20% cash back of the promotion (capped at RM 100.00 of cashback)?

So, the total cashback is RM 130.00, right? Alright, in this case, online credit card application is better than going to any CIMB Card Centre, asking for same-day approval and collection of the credit card.

5)
QUOTE(David83 @ Oct 29 2016, 04:57 PM)
5) 29 September to 28 October is period. Credited by 29th October but you'll see in CIMBClicks on 30/31st October (1-2 day delay). The cash back is not treated as advance payment of your previous bill outstanding.
*
Example:
29 September to 28 October: Spend RM 600.00 in total.
31 October: RM 30.00 of cashback is posted in CIMB Clicks.

Just to clarify, for statement generated on 28 October, is the statement balance (that I need to pay on payment due date) RM 600.00, not RM 570.00? So, this RM 30.00 of cashback will be used to reduce the outstanding balance on 28 November, right?

Thank you for your clarification. thumbup.gif

1.theorically no minimum, the calculation should be just (total online spend) * 5%

2. Yes, there is a change pin option in cimbclick, but you need a cimbclick account first and temporary pin for that. If you do not have cimbclick at first, you will need to set the pin via ATM before you can use your cardno & pin to open cimbclick account.

3. Calling CS, but for cimb CR, we only have fixed 28th statement date, cannot change.

4. Yes, correct. The 20% cashback promotion should apply to the same online spend as well.

5. Your outstanding will reduce, but you still need to pay the "statement balance" because the cashback will not treat as a "payment" to the card and you will incure finance charge because you pay lower than statement balance. So better just pay statement balance to avoid hassle to ask for waiver.
*
Thank you for your answer, edwardccg.

1. The first post and the FAQ mention that the annual fee of CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard is waived. Is there any condition for this annual fee waiver (such as 12 swipes per year), or this annual fee waiver is just given without me doing anything at all?

2.
Example:
29 September to 28 October: Spend RM 600.00 in total.
31 October: RM 30.00 of cashback is posted in CIMB Clicks.
November 17 (Payment due date): Make full payment of statement balance of RM 600.00. So, the outstanding balance is -RM 30.00.
November 20: Cancel the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard.

Is it possible to transfer RM 30.00 of cashback, to my CIMB Saving Account, after I cancel the credit card?

Thank again. rclxms.gif

That is a great news. Thanks for sharing. smile.gif So, at least for CIMB Bank, SMS alert is given for MasterCard Contactless transactions.

What about other banks? For sure, SMS alert is not given for Maybank Visa Paywave transactions.

For me, although it is faster, I will not pay via contactless method, until the banks start sending SMS alerts for contactless transactions.

after you get the TAC pop up (if using smart phone), no further sms for the transaction

Thanks for the info. notworthy.gif

So, we only get the flash SMS showing the TAC, similar to Hong Leong Bank. vmad.gif For UOB Bank, we get only the normal SMS, showing TAC. mad.gif

The best bank in this aspect is still Maybank. rclxms.gif Other than the normal SMS showing the TAC, we then receive a SMS transaction alert, showing the amount charged to our credit card, and the merchant name, even for the online transactions. smile.gif

I have a question about negative outstanding balance, for CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard.

Example:

10 January 2017: Spend RM 600 in a single online transaction.

28 January 2017: eStatement is generated, whereby its statement balance is RM 600.00. 5% cashback worth RM 30.00 is credited. Thus, the outstanding balance is RM 570.00.

17 February 2017: It is the payment due date, on which I make full payment of RM 600.00. So, the outstanding balance is - RM 30.00.

28 February 2017: eStatement is generated, whereby its statement balance is - RM 30.00.

.

.

.

28 June 2017: eStatement is generated, whereby its statement balance is - RM 30.00.

Is my example correct?

Suppose that I do not use my CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard at all for many months, and I still want to keep the credit card active. Will my outstanding balance remain as - RM 30.00 forever? In other words, CIMB will not forfeit my cashback of RM 30.00, right?

Thank you for the information. notworthy.gif

Thank you very much for the assurance. notworthy.gif

Based on the general terms and conditions of any CIMB Credit Card (http://www.cimbbank.com.my/content/dam/cim...ntional-tnc.pdf)

QUOTE
PDF Page 11. Prepayment

Clause 19. (a) (ii) any sum standing to the credit of the MasterCard and/or Visa Card Account as a result of the prepayment shall not be refundable to the Cardholder.

The 5 % online cashback causes the negative outstanding balance, and thus credit to our CIMB Credit Card. Going by this clause, the bank will forfeit the cashback.

Perhaps, I may have misinterpreted the "Prepayment" which is not really related to my example here.

In short, I just follow your advice, and have full faith that the negative outstanding balance is always there.

Thanks again. smile.gif

For CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard:

Assume that my statement date is 28 March 2017, and my payment due date is 18 April 2017.

If I make full payment of the entire statement balance on 18 April 2017, there should not be late payment charge, or any other financial charges incurred to me, right?

No worries, David83. It is down to individual preference. smile.gif

I am talking about getting cashback, if we shop at the actual physical pharmacy store.

*Edited for clarity"

We can first use credit card with grocery cashback to reload the Touch n' go card in Jaya Grocer, or credit card with petrol cashback to reload the Touch n' go card in Petronas. After that, we can use Touch n' go card in Watson, for pharmacy purchase.

I could be wrong, but Guardian online website does not offer voucher for sale.

MGM is correct. Sorry for making my post vague.

I should have said that we use credit card with grocery cashback to reload the Touch n' go card in Jaya Grocer, or credit card with petrol cashback to reload the Touch n' go card in Petronas. After that, we can use Touch n' go card in Watson, for pharmacy purchase.

Good for you. thumbup.gif

Why is your cash rebate more than RM 30.00? I thought that the 5% online cash rebate for this card is capped at RM 30.00.

However, keep on facing transaction being rejected with several online merchants/portals.
Called CS and they said everything looks fine. I did ask what was the error code.
Lastly, I couldn't take it. I requested for a replacement card.
*
Since the fault is on CIMB, you are getting the free card replacement from CIMB, right?
