QUOTE(Ralna @ Sep 12 2016, 11:57 PM) Hi, people... need your advice here. My application for CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum card got rejected. I think it's because I have 5 credit cards from 2 banks (2 Maybank cards + 3 UOB cards). 1. If I cancel 1 Maybank card & 2 UOB cards, which means I have 2 cards left, can I apply for a new CIMB card? Will it get approved? If I cancel old cards & the application doesn't get approved, I'll be 2. I have a CIMB account but that's not the main account I use. If I deposit more $$ in the account regularly, will the chances of getting a CIMB credit card be increased? My income is steadily above 5k & I'm a good paymaster with good credit ratings. I have many cards because those banks called & offered me to use them a few years ago. It's just that now I shop online a lot, I need a good credit card for online shopping. Any advice? Is it easy to get approval? p.s. Actually when I submitted the application form, the exec also asked me to apply for another CIMB card since I fit all their criteria. (>.<) QUOTE(mamamia @ Sep 13 2016, 07:38 AM) Holding few cards from a same bank doesn't affect ur credit rating as ur credit limit is combine for all cards.. There is a cool down period after rejected application right? However, u should cancel cards which u didn't use, no point keeping useless card As for cimb, u can try to appeal for the unsuccessful application, else u need to wait at least 6 months only u can reapply. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 13 2016, 01:29 PM) QUOTE(lilsunflower @ Sep 13 2016, 02:34 PM) I suggest you send them an e-mail as Fruitie mentioned. Thanks for the advice. Let me drop them an email and see how it goes Based on my experience, CIMB has a strange automated system, which may result in auto rejection for no "real" reason. My most recent experience with them is as follows: I hold more than 15 CCs (average 2-3 from each mainstream bank) and have never had a rejection. However, I applied for CIMB CR in March this year, and was sent 2 cards (CIMB CR + CIMB Petronas), with 100k+ credit limit. I did not activate the CIMB Petronas since I never applied for it. In May, I applied for a CIMB Visa Infinite and received an almost immediate auto rejection (via a call from CS). When I asked CS why, she said the system auto rejected but cannot disclose reasons. She gave me the standard kind of answers when I asked more questions and advised me to write in. I e-mailed the card centre, and within 2 days CS called me to say that my application had been approved and combined credit limit increased by 50k. I don't know WHY I was rejected, but after writing in, everything was super quick and easy. In fact, they were very keen to give me the Visa Infinite card. |

I am also waiting for the CIMB Cash Rebate replacement card. For some unknown reason they sent me the Tesco card instead but I have no use for it so I didn't activate.

QUOTE(lilsunflower @ Sep 26 2016, 02:07 PM) I think CIMB like to send extra cards, even if you apply only for 1. I applied for CIMB CR, and they sent me 2 cards (CR + Petronas). I called them immediately and told them to cancel the Petronas card. I agree with the principle that should cancel cards that you won't use, to avoid having to manage them even if they don't have annual fees. Maybe I will do that. Dunno throw where already since I didn't plan to activate. Need to give them a call. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 26 2016, 02:17 PM) Make it a habit, don't apply cards which you don't need and if you are forced to have it, then cancel it if you don' want it. I was surprised to see they gave me a card that I didn't apply. Cause I thought they need signature and stuff Well, I always emphasise to them, don't simply send cards which I don't need. So far, banks are still quite OK. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 2 2016, 03:42 PM) Got my Enrich Plat sent to office. I like how shinny it is. What's the benefit of the card other than access to lounge? 2x only right? Can bring family in for free? I remembered filling in my EM membership, not sure how to know if it is already linked? I am still withholding the decision to get Aeon card for the lounge access cause might not able to bring family to go in This post has been edited by Duckies: Nov 3 2016, 11:28 AM |

Eh, I just now checked my statement online, it shows 2 cards, CASH REBATE GOLD MC and CASH REBATE PLATINUM MC. I am currently using the Gold one so I assume they are upgrading it to Platinum for me but I haven't actually got the card yet. However, all my current transaction goes under this Platinum card. What should I do? Call them and ask why I still haven't go the card yet?

QUOTE(trisx @ Nov 24 2016, 10:37 AM) Guys. Why there is 2 cards in my cimb clicks. I have only 1 cimb credit card. Now i check cimbclick got another with different card number but same credit limit. Any ideas? Cash Rebate Gold and Cash Rebate Platinum? I called their customer service yesterday...seems like they are upgrading all Gold to Platinum and they are sending out the cards batch by batch. Although different card number but all new transaction should goes to the new card number right? You can still continue to use the old card. |
