Wow, CIMB is being absolutely ridiculous. I was slapped a finance charges of RM6.43 on my latest statement.

Statement Balance on 28 Aug: RM 522.58
Cash Rebate on 29 Aug: RM 26.13
Payment on 15 Sep (Payment due is 17 Sep): RM 496.45
Finance Charges on 28 Sep: RM6.43

Does anyone know how they calculate the finance charges? Charging RM6.43 for a short of RM26.13 is like imposing a finance charges of 24.6% per month. WTH? I tried to call their call center to ask about how they derived RM6.43 and they put me on hold for 30 minutes as they told me it's too complicated to calculate and will need more time  vmad.gif
They promised to call me back within 2 hours and i am still waiting!  ranting.gif

They're afraid of getting scolded by you and most agents and even supervisors in contact centres don't know the concept much less how to actually make the calculations. The concept is as follows:

Since you did not pay in full by the due date, you lose the 20 days interest-free benefit for all transactions shown for statement date 28 August so you'll be charged interest for the following:

1. All transactions listed on statement dated 28 August
2. All transactions listed on statement dated 28 September
3. Additional finance charges up to the due date for statement dated 28 September to avoid the situation of not being able to zero the statement balance despite paying the statement balance in full before or on due date

Due to the daily compounding interest nature for conventional credit cards, even small carry forward balances can add up much faster than the advertised 1.5% per month rate.

laugh.gif That's quite high ya. Sorry but I'm not sure how do banks calculate interest. Maybe you can share with us after they share the calculation with you. biggrin.gif

muscaa, you gotta be careful. smile.gif Just a friendly reminder.

Wow, they called me back and tell me all the nonsense like they are charging 1.25% interest per month on whatever amounts that i spent after the short (not 1.25% on the amount that i short!). I haven't heard of this before and ask them to show me the calculations and they told me it's too complicated to calculate but they will send me the formula and asking me to do my own calculation. This is really stupid! A bank with state of the art facility not able to justify and share with the customer on how they derived the RM6.43 late charges? After i raised my voice, they promised to get their finance department to recalculate and share with me the calculation formula by the next 3 working days, the earliest mad.gif puke.gif

Hello all Sifus, I have a question on paying AEON credit card using POSOnline.

I made a payment to AEON via POSOnline. The transaction is captured in the statement, but I didn't see the rebate coming in. Does it reflect on the same month or the coming month ya?

Give them about 2 weeks. They will send SMS or you can always check by calling CS.

On another hand, I wonder CIMB's server follows which time zone? unsure.gif Earlier I made PosOnline payment around 3.00 a.m., and the transaction date was accurate. This time I paid on 29th's 2.28 a.m., it shows one day earlier... sweat.gif Luckily posting date is after 28th, which means it will take up new month's quota.

That's why POSONLINE trans is not suitable for time sensitive promo. Been brought to Holland a couple of times.

Hi guys,

so i paid for online shopping using paypal cimb last time.

Amount 53.83
CIMB charged me 54.26

Ask them, why got different amount, they told me coz the paypal terminal in overseas, hence the charges is more.

Is it normal?

Never happened to me before with other CC e.g VOX or Maybank

Thanks..
