Earlier this year, JPA limited its scholarship for overseas study. Recently, a huge number of JPA scholars pleaded Prime Minister Najib Razak to guarantee that the most outstanding amongst them to receive overseas scholarship.

Justine Jason Barnabas, a representative of some 150 students, made a proposal to Dato’ Sri Najib Razak to revive the Renowned University Programme, also known as the JPA Ivy League Setara Scholarship.

This issue is the result of Public Services Department’s (JPA) decision to stop giving overseas scholarships last January 20 due to the downsizing of the government’s revenue.

Barnabas proposed for at least 30 of them to be given scholarships under the Ivy League programme.

Dato’ Sri Najib responded to his plea by saying that he needed to analyse the budget and discuss the proposal with the ministry before making a decision.
