Hi, I'm planning to replace my rear tyres as they will be worn out soon. Currently using CC6 on all tyres but I am thinking of trying XM2+ this time. Is it fine to mix different tyres? Does the new tyres fit better at the back or at the front?
*
New tyres at the back.

Ok noted. Front CC6, Rear XM2+ not a big problem right?
*
Don't think there'll be an issue short term wise, but best not to for long term I guess.

From what I've heard, it's a bad idea to mix touring with UHP tyres, but not sure about CC6 and XM2+. Better to let the others with more credibility answer.

need front tyre 195/55/15 under 200..
interested in apollo 4G..

At that price point, Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2, Hankook Ventus Prime3, Toyo Proxes TR1, Advan Fleva V701. Chip in a little more to get the best tyre for that size, Michelin Pilot Sport 3.

Changed 4, get RM185 per piece including balancing/alignment/metal valve. Size is 195/55/15. I asked few shops, there is no 185/55/15 for this model.
*
Do let us know how the tyres perform. Would like to compare them with Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2. Thanks!

I have to change my Saga LMST front tyres as the one on the left showing the metal cord (innder side) already

As it happened on the inner side I didn't notice it until it stuck on a facemask trown by some irresponsible fella (in this case have to thank him lol) on the road yesterday and produced sound

I am using Silverstone so am thinking to use back the same since it served me well over the past few years

What is the price now and any other suggestion? Would open for suggestions on tyres of the same price range as I only use this car for town and max will be like 70 to 80 km/h

What's your rim/tyre size?

Mine is 13"

Sorry, not very well-versed with 13" tyres.

Just some recommendations/suggestions for you to pick from and do extra research.

1. Dunlop SP Sport J6.
2. Michelin XM2+
3. Yokohama BluEarth-Es ES32.

I know wat u mean and has always practice exactly that, but last few months i have this thoughts :
If i need to swap the tyres every 15k, i hv to do it twice a year.
In 4 yrs = 8x, each time alignment + balancing if rm40, =320
Is it worth it? 😁
Unless my car so ngam got do some repair or change on the tyres area, then do the swap n alignment balancing, then oklo

Also again, when we rotate the tyres the front tyres which are usually has less meat will go to the back as well, so is LPPL 😂

QUOTE(zeng @ Apr 14 2021, 09:18 AM)
Not worth it and I buy your idea about the un-necessity of periodic tyre rotation/balancing/alignment in typical 2WD.
Practised such for a decade, if not more.
Exception being when one of four tyres encounter unusual socalled inherent wear which cannot be rectified by proper alignment works, specifically with a certain AWD.

Edit:
My XM2's at Avanza Rear at 95k km is still good and I intend to push it to say, 105-115k km till touching tread wear indicator bar.
Only balance once when newly purchased upon installation. No alignment and no periodic rotation throughout its life thus far.
*
I believe you don't need to perform alignment and balancing if you were to just rotate them. Just rotate them each time you service your car since based on what you've posted, it sounds like you drive around 30K km a year.

Only do an alignment if the steering feels wrong, or balancing when you feel something's wrong like vibrations, etc.

Rotating everytime service dono kena charge how much?
Think no need so frequent, maybe once every 2 yrs or so
*
I've never been charged for tyre rotation. You can ask your usual mechanic to do it for you.

So??????
We can sue the mechanics and tyre shops for millions in a class suit?
Recommend me a class suit lawyer please with money to pocket.
I wish to appoint you as middleman to handle this on my behalf, splitting the lottery 50-50 after expenses.
Deal?
*
Huh? Just look for a mechanic where you can build a positive and mutually beneficial relationship.

I'm just sharing my experience trying to help save some money, not sure why you have to be sarcastic.

Just because I can get free rotations, doesn't mean I was never charged with rotations from other shops. But it doesn't hurt to keep searching for better ones out there who would actually help you.

How am I suppose to say, "Yeap they already included the price of rotation" when it was done during a visit where I was charged nothing for other menial tasks.

?????????????????????????

Sometimes when I insist to pay for certain labour, their reply "is we are friends, no need. Next time just bring some free drinks for them." So that's why I'm suggesting to do what I mentioned previously, build a decent relationship, reap some benefits. It really doesn't hurt to try and you don't lose much.

Sifus,

Tyre 215/45/17 what brands recommended?
Budget around RM300+ per tyre.

Currently using Viking, would like to upgrade a bit.

Bridgestone Potenza RE004 ok?
Or should also consider Michelin Primacy 4/ Pilot Sport 4?
*
For your budget, you can try MC6.

I already asked Ftuned, they said it's problem with saga chassis (I don't understand this)

Then if I use 195/55 front, 195/50 for rear can solve the problem? Or better change to other spring?
*
QUOTE(6UE5T @ Sep 21 2021, 04:08 PM)
As I said earlier, no it won't, it will actually worsen it. It's not a problem with the tire size or chassis, it's the springs not well made, maybe the springs height are not proper or the springs rate not correct (front too hard or rear too soft). Basically you bought lousy set of springs!
*
I guess the F in Ftuned stands for fuck cuz they really bend you over by selling you something which wasn't according to what you were expecting, and then proceeded to claim that it's the car's issue, not theirs. They could have informed you on this or manage expectations before proceeding too

Never used Ftuned springs before, but I’ve used 2 sets of their coilovers before. Never encountered any issue. Farouk is a nice guy from my own experience. I normally will directly chat with him whenever I have some questions and he seems helpful.

Even some car models will face the same issue after using eibach pro-kit which is the front is higher than the rear. 😬😬😬
*
It's unfortunate that upon inquiring on his issue, their response was that it's due to the chassis instead of coming up with a solution with their own products though.

I too never do the often-pronounced practice of tyre rotations since installation of my respective tyres .....
meaning the 4 tyres on my Avanza are today still in their original location since installation.

Besides, my previous set of 105-110k km XM2 (Front axle) had a residual tread depth of about 2 mm, well higher than the factory recommended criteria of replacement upon reaching tyre wear indicator at 1.6 mm depth.

Your 40k replacement of Goodyear was likely at a tread depth well very much higher than 1.6 mm tire wear indicator recommended of factory, just my speculation.

I think majority of car owners on this board and general public are brain-washed to have their tyres replaced at say, 3-4 mm of residual tyre tread depth for whatever insurance/feel shiok reasons which imo is contrary to recommendations of ALL tyre manufacturers and hence I humbly consider the actual practice a wasteful consideration.

[attachmentid=10993879]

Tyre manufacturers should be smarter right?
*
If you want to save money, then yes, you can use it until 1.6mm. It's definitely sufficient enough for day to day commute.

But do know that the less tread depth, the less grip you have in the wet / more prone to aquaplaning.

for a customer, can we believe the Traction AA listed by the tyre manufacturer?

In general, yes. But I would rather look at actual test results.
