Hi gyus, have anyone of you used goodyear assurance triplemax or continental UltraContact UC6 before?

Does those two have soft side wall and how to they perform on wet road.
*
I don't think they will perform/grip as well as your current V12E2 coz both are low-mid range category only. Triplemax seems decent though for mid range tires as there seem quite many positive feedback but having said that, the V12E2 managed to outperform the top of the line Goodyear F1A3 during Car & Driver comparison test so I'd say safe to say this lower Goodyear Triplemaxx would not fare any better. Then the UC6 is only the 2nd lowest model from Continental and more focused towards comfort and durability. I got a colleague who recently bought this UC6 for his Camry coz he didn't know better and regretted it coz he said the tires feel a bit floating especially in the wet.

This is the best value for money tires and it's only rm20 over your budget and maybe you can even try bargain a bit. It's UHP category tires yet the price is similar to lower category mid-range tires and the comfort and noise level can match or even beat those mid range tires. Any other cheaper will not be so good/big drop in performance for just a little difference in price (for example Toyo DRB, Goodeyar NCT5, BS Ecopia, Dunlop D05, Continental CC6, etc2.) so not really worth it.

Sorry that V12E2 I said earlier, I fitted that on my suprima s. This one is for a different car, a honda city hybrid and that car come with stock goodyear Excellence tyres. I doent like the stock tyres and i would like to change it if possible but the thing is....185/55/16 size isn't that much to choose for. Unless there are other brand that I didn't know in the market sad.gif

hankook ventus v12 evo2?
supposed to be a performance level tire

Just what I searched for also for Hankook but it seems like Kumho Ecsta PS31 is a better all-rounder from the reviews in various places.

195/55/R15 is on offer now in Sarawak. RM750/4 pieces instead of RM200.

Hmm yeah outside Klang Valley will be much more expensive. Then probably just go with some that I mentioned above, maybe particularly the Dunlop D05 or Goodyear NCT5.

Nope, PS31 is just barely entry level UHP and not that good. Which reviews do you read that say PS31 is better than V12E2??
Read this from Tirerack:
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDi...ay.jsp?ttid=217

Highlighted comments that shows this tire is not really UHP:
"Kumho's Ecsta PS31 fails to deliver on its Ultra High Performance Summer promise..."

Can share why you feel the NCT5 is really bad?

CC6 is Continental's lowest model so not recommended coz poor grip performance typical of low end eco tires, should be even worse than NCT5.

lol wait until you have 2 pair on ur car.. nct5 really bad in term of aquaplane..

got my car and on the way driving to tires shop to change rims and tires, it was heavy rain and i drive 60km/h pass through suddenly my vsc light turn on..

changed 17 rims on v12, it serve me quite well for a year, downsized to 16 on ps4.. ps4 best tires im using so far..

CC6 IMHO is really not worth it because it's low end tires but comparatively the price is rather high (for such low category performance) due to the Continental brand. IMHO the Dunlop D05 should be your best bet.

Ah ya, NCT5 has rather shallow cuts for water which can be worn off rather quickly hence even though the tires maybe still have a lot more main tread life but the water cuts already almost gone so easier to aquaplane.

Yes, PS4 is the best now, if got budget then surely just go with PS4.

This is the tyre's resonance frequency that caused this noise, my car also similar, just the speed range not as wide as yours.

Nothing to do with the alignment and balancing of the car. You can play around the tyre pressure to reduce the speed range of this noise.

6UE5T you have this issue on the myvi and swift?

Fitted the hankook k120 to my gf's V40, just got back from a roadtrip to Pg, didn't notice any loud resonance noise. Tyres was mostly quiet and only roared when the tarmac got rough which is normal for every tyre. Just cruised home at 110kph, smooth and no dramas.
Now on the look out for new tyres for her sister's 2.4L CRV with the 18 inch wheels. Not much choice and expensive in Pg.

Resonance hum differs from car to car, as the use of materials types, length, density of pretty much everything in the car will have an effect of amplifying or dampening it.

Good that the v40 didn't exhibit such an issue, mine wasn't that obvious unless you try to concentrate on it. Volvo's noise insulation is already pretty good to start with.
