Since I saw the regular guy here is Zenix and lsm1991 Might want to ask some advice on which one to choose. However, anyone who saw my post also can advise, I welcome all inputs.
Two offers came to me, from my mechanic and my friend, details as below
From Mechanic: Proton Wira Aeroback 1.5 3AT - 160KM+ mileage This car is sitting at his workshop all the time, was a 'gift' from his sister who was a cikgu and only driven the car from house to university which only few KMs apart. Condition wise, all body is aligned, no accident, original paint and body kit only a small dent on behind, already touch up, not painted. The only thing to highlight is that he just service the 3AT valve body due to dirty that time (cikgu didnt maintain well i guess) Opening price is RM5000
From Friend: Perodua Myvi 2006 1.3 AT No Airbag - 100KM+ mileage This car used by my fren to go to his office and go back home, occasionally go out of town, Singapore as well. Engine is very well proven to be able to go long haul, my fren very sayang the car, hence want to sell to someone he know. Body wise, i know he involved in few minor cosmetics accident, now the car just painted last year, looks like new. He will only sell this car early next year since he is getting the new Civic 1.5Turbo Opening price is RM15000
I'm aware that the price is far apart, 3 times of it. However I want to hear from the investment side, which one more worth. Currently I'm driving an old Bluebird U13, still on restoration and many small things to fix, so will need a spare car to go to work only.

QUOTE(zenix @ Sep 14 2016, 01:21 PM) Bluebird U13 aka Altima isn't a cheap project car. Properly restored it is quite a beast especially the manual one as it has an SR20 heart, which can accept a turbo "pacemaker" anytime there are lotsa bolt-ons readily available in the market or you can keep it stock it is pretty much still very fast but don't expect the kind of power and fuel economy of newer cars. I remember my dad had to sell it when bushings were quoted to at RM4000, so it isn't cheap.
If your friend does any modifications on the Myvi then don't bother cause it really isn't that much cheaper than the cheapest used car on the market. The cheapest for that kind of mileage is 15.5k so friend discount is only 500 bucks?
Getting a good condition Wira for 5k isn't easy but if you just need a cheap runabout then this is the car to buy. Yeah, I'm restoring the U13 with halfcuts stuffs so lower costs at least. Myvi is a total stock, no modification at all, and yeah price wise is just a normal market price, that's a drawback. (see if i can lobby him for a Rm12K price ) Wira, I will get to borrow it for few weeks when I send the U13 for respray, not sure I can decide whether it is a good car only driving it for few weeks. Plan to bring the wira to few of other friends and mechanics that I know and ask them for opinion. Or anyone can give me some advise, I'm all ears

QUOTE(smiling_leopard @ Oct 13 2016, 08:53 AM) 1. Brand = Any 2. Budget = <35k-40k otr 3. New/Used/Unreg = used 4. Specs = powerful car to balik kampung and go outstation 5. Transmission = auto 6. NA or FI ? = I dont know what is this haha 7. Type = sedan or hb 8. Remarks = fresh grad with 2500 basic need first car to go balik kampung and sometimes want to tekan (young blood) haha. Trying to get mothly below 500 haha. Want to to learn to take care of a car. Hehe. If can get handsome car ill be happy. Low maintenance cost ( dont want to spend my time at workshop) Huhu. No major prob. ( I already read about Peugeot 308 turbo and Ford fiesta) haha. More keras and safe ( I do care about safety but I also understand that old car dont have lot of safety features) Nissan Latio maybe? Like normally Zenix will suggest. Suit your budget well, got option for sedan and hb, low maintenance, and the hb looks is not bad too. the only thing is if you want to tekan, maybe this one not that good in that area.

QUOTE(lsm1991 @ Oct 19 2016, 05:51 PM) official sc... sure kene scalplah..... i mean, isnt everything expensive there?? added on stuff like body kit can go up to 10k.... then they can advertise, "pomo 15k discount" (discount as in free bodykit, rims and maybe one or 2 other minor differences) exactly! IMHO, nowadays people only go SC to 'protect' their warranty Therefore SC will squeeze money until the warranty end.

QUOTE(zenix @ Dec 14 2016, 10:43 PM) 2016 round-up of used carsSo 2016 is going to end soon so all those yummy 2006 cars are going to be CASH PURCHASE ONLY. So what are the good stuff to grab now before it is too late? E.g. you see a car worth RM35k now it isn't very expensive but take note that even when it rolls over to 2017 it isn't going to drop in price alot because it is a year older and people cannot loan it anymore, even at RM30k would be out of reach for most people and a personal loan is going to be expensive so better grab it now with a cheaper car loan before the year ends. B-Segment2006 Toyota Yaris 1.5 - so finally something for the cheapsters, basically it is a hatchback version of the Vios so if you don't get into a serious accident that requires front/back body parts then you're good to go in terms of maintenance, it is same as a Vios. Even if a motorbike bang your door, you can fit a Vios door onto it. Does Yaris use the same suspensions as Vios? Wah Yaris is quite a steal

QUOTE(lsm1991 @ Dec 15 2016, 05:57 PM) yes underpinnings are shared.... heck if you look carefully... i suspect that the headlights are also swappable (i guess with some bits swapped around) *also... actually... the vios which is all in all more practical is cheaper than that, around 25k...... if i were to throw 35k at a hatch, the colt turbo gets my vote... its around the same age/price as that yaris TBH, I never maintain a Mistu car, I know the colt turbo is a very nice looking hot hatch.. but still I dun dare to touch it. QUOTE(zenix @ Dec 16 2016, 12:24 PM) no lah i dulan oredi throw letter. fire my boss not my boss fire me lol hahaha, so u got new job ady? Anyway, also a good thing to see u often here..

QUOTE(zenix @ Mar 1 2017, 12:31 AM) 2012 Proton Satria Neo @ RM18kLet's use the car above as an example. 1. Yes it is relatively cheap and young. 2. This is usually the point when people aim for cheap and young car, cause it should be less troublesome to upkeep. So what kind of mod's you planning cause the stuff in that blog are pretty drastic stuff. 3. So that's 18k+5k? When you say you have more money meaning lump sum cash to mod or few hundred extra every month for modding cheapo stuff? 4. So you're looking for a project car? Just to show off or something to join a club for? 1999 Honda Civic 1.6 - this model instantly has more power than the Neo without any mods. If the advertisement is true then it is a very nicely taken care of low mileage car. Still has tons of mods for this car in the market but if you're going to just mainly do aesthetics also can, anything 1600cc and below on the roads now without turbo isn't a match for it and it can stand up to 1700cc and even 1800cc powered cars. Maintenance? Cheap for the power you get. Or...... buy a B13 sentra and swap in SR20DET + blue eManage Can easily bully Campros or stock B16s on the highway

Hi all, I saw @zenix recommend renaul fluence quite a lot. How is this car? saw the 2nd hand price oso very cheap.
how reliable is the CVT? since Sylphy got issue with CVT previously? how bout those suspension. bushings, arms? Does fluence use nissan's or renault's ? That will affect in the long term maintenance I guess?
