My question is the loan will consider the car registration year or the car manufacturing year for unreg car to process the loan. Any Toyota Estima dealer here? TQ guys

ALWAYS year of manufacture.

registration date literally has 0 value here.

1. Brand: Kia Forte or Honda City
2. Budget: <RM35k
3. New/Used/Unreg: Used
4. Specs: Any
5. Transmission: Automatic
6. NA or FI ? : Any
7. Type:
8. Remark:

I am at a crossroads here

There's 2 cars i'm interested in a
2010 City with 150k clocked in for RM32k

/

2013 Kia Forte 1.6 with 90k clocked in for RM35k
why not the top of the range 2.0... the 1.6 is lethargic

The city is considered cause my dad says it's durable and parts are cheap doesn't suck petrol as well .
however I find the car to be rather bland interior wise... and the mileage is sky high
The Forte seems to be well equipped and pretty techy.
well, imo its basically on par actually (unless you get the baseline forte which is crap)

I'm more fond of the Forte cause of it's year and mileage.

But my dad says that Koreans are a nightmare to maintain and eats petrol like a champ. Hence the maddening depreciation.
So .... is that true ? feels like my dad is having the mentality jap = tahan but  I need more opinions on this
not really that true, owners have said that parts are not an issue and are not really that expensive (in the klang valley, outside i wish you all the best) and they are not really problematic cars. The enhanced 6 speeders (which is what you are looking at) also get decent mileage. Not as good as the city, but its okay. What your dad says about the city however is true. The 2009 model is pretty much a bulletproof machine.

1. Brand : Any that fit the budget
2. Budget : Max 50k (I am leaning to left side)
3. New/Used/Unreg : Any
4. Specs : 1.3 cc and above
5. Transmission : Automatic
6. NA or FI : Not sure about this, sorry
7. Type : I am not much a fan of sedan due to low seating but if its a good deal, please do recommend also.
8. Remarks :
Will be used for daily commute to work and client visit, so reliability and durability is a must. My house quite far from the city and daily commute from house to work can reach 120km per day, not including client visit.  Fuel consumption and maintenance also play important part since I will hit the road quite often.

I have narrow down to New Perodua Myvi 1.3X and Proton Iriz 1.6 Premium (both with discount), but not sure which one to proceed. Any other type also welcome..
Thank you..
*
given these 2, if you are in it to get a reliable decent well equipped allrounder car, myvi

if you are in it for the handling and drive, the iriz would be the better pick.

I didn't get to test drive 1.3X variant because the dealer only have 1.5 advance available. My personal opinion, yes Myvi 1.5 will get better performance in terms of engine and bigger space, but the other factors not so much.
Especially if what the SA said is true (that Myvi 1.3X will have same performance like Bezza 1.3), it will be better to choose Bezza (bigger boot, top spec with all feature). I think really need to go and test drive yourself to have better perspective..
*
what on earth do you mean the 1.3 is similar to the 1.5....
Its got more goodies thrown in... airbags, touch screen, reverse camera and the silly t&g reader. Safety wise its got more airbags and asa (tho asa is really pretty much a gimick). Obviously a larger more powerful engine too?

considering what you get for the difference in price, its kinda worth considering.

Compared to the bezza, there's a reason the myvi sold so well when it was launched. All in all, its a good package. Its trunk isnt small actually. Its even has a full sized spare (which is on a rim, not a steel wheel or a silly space saver). Dont even get me started on the rear seat. the myvi's legroom is way more spacious.

i have no idea about evo 9. However realistically, car at that age will have some issues and needs more attention.
*
basically what bro 6UE5T mentioned. the only thing id argue is 'bang for buck'. these things are pricey given their ages but its kind of a testament to its abilities.

now calling it 'obsolete' is true to a certain degree. Its a simple design which can be quite easily (arguably cheaply) modified to produce big power with the body and drive train to match. If you are looking for something comfortable and relatively fuel efficient, this isnt the car for the job.

Example:
1. Brand : Honda Accord 8th Gen
2. Budget : RM55k
3. New/Used/Unreg : Used
4. Specs : Full Spec
5. Transmission : 5 Speed Auto
6. NA or FI :  FI
7. Type : 5 seater.
8. Remarks : Headache to get either accord 2.0 facelifted model (2012) or 2.4 prefacelifted model (2010)

Hello Bro Zenix. Shopping for my dad 2nd hand car. My dad got max budget Rm55k. After hunting a lot of 2nd hand car dealer and individual owner, got 2 units that my father interested.

Problem is, both car is on different year and variant. 2.0 is 2012, while 2.4 is 2010. Mileage is about the same. If my father drove 70% highway and 30% city, which fuel consumption more jimat cruising at 120km/h all the way on highway?. My father hardly drove fast, only few times reach 140km/h. In term of maximum fuel efficiency which one more jimat if my father dont drive fast  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

I ask few of my friends, they all said, better get facelifted model since it is newer, one of my friends even show prefacelifted accord got owner complained and put sticker on his accord "honda x guna". So scary. Based on my observation, 2.0 facelifted is more silent than 2.4, but 2.4 more well equipped.

I read ur statement here said, 2.4 more jimat on highway, that make me more headaches, dunno the saving from rm350 roadtax over 2.4 is justified or not, scared later become, "penny wise pound foolish". Spend less on roadtax but more on fuel.
really it also depends on your mileage and overall driving conditions... i dont believe this car is going to be driven 100% long distance. fuel economy should not be used to justify taking the 2.4 over the 2.0
**also i believe the 2.4's rt is over 2x the 2.0

Anither different is 16" tyre vs 17" tyres. Does 17" tyre last longer compared to 16" tyre under same driving pattern?. Really curious since price difference quite high.
[b]nope

Btw, tq in advance for ur reply. Cant wait to see what u repiied.

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : less than 15k for used
3. Transmission: Auto
4. Type : Prefer hatchback/sedan, but open to suggestions
8. Remarks : I'll be using this car mostly for city driving, to and fro work (less than 10km) and occasionally have to drive from Kajang to Putrajaya/KL/PJ for work purposes. Won't be using it for long distance (balik kampung) as my family has a bigger car for that.

My parents suggested to get a new car and are willing to chip in for the loan repayments (as I just graduated a few months ago) but after visiting the showrooms and listening to the salespersons etc I'm worried that it would be costly since I just started working and do not want to burden my parents with the car loan.

For new car, the choices are either Myvi/Bezza. I really appreciate any suggestions on used cars too since I'm keeping my options open. Plan to visit some second hand car dealers to check some cars out (if there are any places around Kajang/Cheras to recommend, do share as well!)

Thanks! smile.gif

your used options include:

viva :
+ reliable, cheap to maintain, parts are everywhere and its a simple car
+ fuel efficient for town driving
+- small and easy to park BUT small and cramp if you're on the large side

neo :
+ 'cooler' looking
+ handles pretty good
- not gona sugarcoat it, campros don't deliver great economy

i'll still say, the picanto is a super good buy for 2nd hand.

https://www.mudah.my/Kia+Picanto+1+2+Auto+P...ec-78731057.htm RM20k only... easy to maintain, hassle free car.

PS: my family own 2 hyundai i10 same engine, same transmission only difference is, the i10 do not look as dated as the picanto and it has less gadgets.
*
budget < 15, picanto would be close to 20 for an auto unit

well i have to say one have to go test drive the VIVA first... Viva @ RM15k i'm afraid it's not road worthy at all. Crapiest piece of 3 cylinder junk.

the Neo is definitely something nice.
*
viva is ok for town driving.... to put it very simply, its a basic A-B car. will do everything reliably and cheaply. It might not be an inspiring car but there is a market for these cars, and there are reasons for that. biggrin.gif

for 20k, the japs you are looking at will be on the older side, not sure how competent you are at viewing and maintaining older cars but just understand those are much older cars, and if you do want to go down that route you should know your stuff.

im not a big fan of koreans tbh so im just gona look past those.

you have your budget friendly protons. for 20k imo a proton is your better bet, you have the simple and friendly persona and your slightly newer more powerful somewhat less wallet friendly preve
