Hi, I am looking for upgrade from 1st gen MyVI 1.3. I love how reliable and cheap to maintain it. I am a person who likes interior design than exterior of the car. So X50 and x70 interior does caught my eye but unfortunately it is not a sedan. So please recommend me the next best thing.

1. Brand : Any - not Perodua
2. Budget : max 100k
3. New/Used/Unreg : any
4. Specs : -
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI :  NA
7. Type : 4 seater, sedan
8. Remarks : Interior, reliability and safety
*
Hahahhah... We r in the same boat high five! I'm in my 2008 sxi myvi.....
To add on also is comfort is a must!

Otws Any other all quite similar! Exterior wise quite subjective but others all quite same!

Example:
1. Brand : any Japanese/local

2. Budget : 100k+-

3. New/Used/Unreg : new

4. Specs : mid to full

5. Transmission : auto

6. NA or FI : NA?

7. Type : 5 seater

8. Remarks : comfort is a must - x50 /x 70 is what caught my eye but I want to check out what else I can explore.. Maintenance and resale value is consideration as well... Have been told x70 backseat not that comfortable even for trip to kl to ipoh - 2 adult 1 adolescent?
Are Korean cars out due of my consideration?

Have you or Macha gone to test out the Geely models (when MCO permits) ?

Try test drive Vios, Almera, City even Ativa as well when you can to make a better purchase decision.

After test drives, then perhaps can comment here for further feedback.

i am assuming we're talking about post MCO no "kesana-kesini" by mahaidin, right?

firstly, you're looking for sedan's only or SUV is also a consideration?
mostly driving alone or must bring whole house with luggage back to kg?
what is your maintenance budget? I am guessing if you're not sending your myvi to 3s then every 5000km you're only paying rm120-200 for regular maintenance, right? so if that bill is rm1000 is it acceptable or too high?

yea will only be on highway again after mco. currently leaning more towards sedan. But i am not ruling out suv entirely.

will be me and wife + 1 kid most of the time. And full of luggage will be the frequent situation.

my maintenance budget? i am not sure. true that i do not send my myvi to 3s, but i use decent full synth eo and a strict maintenance schedule on 10k interval for eo and 20k for transmission oil. If for my next car at seg c or seg d, i am prepared for a higher maintenance fees already.

the last i had a chat with vw owners, minor service for a passat at 15k interval for rm2k , i think its acceptable, so i am kind of expecting jp cars to be slightly cheaper or similar?

QUOTE(darude87 @ Jun 15 2021, 02:39 PM)
good day folks

I am currently driving a myvi 1.5 SE as my daily drive. I love how it performs in town, and the low maintenance, however I think I need a better ride for highway when I travel outstations. My next ride I want something drives better as in stability and comfort on highway, still hesitating between a Seg c or a Seg D. If Seg C i think I may consider a new, for Seg D i will need to look at second hand. I think i will prefer something as reliable as my myvi and the maintenance is not something will break my wallet like a conti.

Budget wise, i think i prefer to keep it below 100k if possible, but if it is needed, i might go for a longer loan for brand new Seg C which is around 130k max
So far cars that I had short listed are as below

1. Camry 2.0 (looking at year 2016 or onwards)
2. Altis (not sure if i want a new or second hand)

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Was in a similar situation as you. Disposed my E46 and reluctantly sold my daily runabout 2013 Myvi 1.5SE. Was in the market for a used D segment, either Camry preFL 2.5V or FL 2.0G, Mazda 6, GS300 or even Mark X.

Looked high and low for the right cars. After 6 months of looking, although never officially on my radar, negotiated a good deal on a 2015 Camry hybrid from private seller on Mudah.

Wont go wrong getting a Camry. Best bang for buck is the hybrid but its not for everybody. Suggest 2015 FL 2.0G for the more modern look.
Keep an eye out for private sellers or those selling on the Camry FB groups.

the 2.5l hybrid indeed is attractive, I'm worried bout the hybrid battery replacement cost in the future, and also the higher roadtax laugh.gif

here is the quick and dirty.

SUV overall maintenance would be similar to sedan of similar segment except the tires going to cost more due to it's size.
If you're okay with sedan that is good as SUV is the trend now so many are trading-in sedan's for SUV.
Normal maintenance you don't need RM2k unless it is a japanese/korean brand going to 3s, or conti at specialist workshop (if 3s even higher).

Toyota Mark X is a good candidate, I've talked about it before you can scroll back. Driving dynamics is great too as it is FR.
It's twin would be the Lexus IS250, due to the badge it would be more expensive but interior fit and finish is better in certain aspects.
Camry is good too, but fit and finish even for the highest spec would be inferior to the Mark X. But non-hybrid models would be very cheap to maintain.
Mazda6 if a good option if you're worried about recon/import cars such as the Mark X and IS250, great interior, good driving dynamics but it is FF layout, no turbo and no hybrid but Skyactiv does give back good mileage but expect a heavy bill when major parts need to be change, else it is as cheap to maintain as a Camry.

Ahhh if your budget has moved up from 100K+- to 130K,
Then the Cross is indeed worth considering vs the new HRV coming soon if not in a hurry.
