i like the looks of it. despite the fact that there's a telephone button at the center console and so-so exterior, i like the interior and the comfort (almost similar to v40 i guess). tried sitting in the car last weekend at a used car shop and loving it. the 240-ish hp is a bonus though.

however, i have no idea on how reliable the car is and how crazy the parts price for this. checked the scheduled maintenance cost and i believe it is on the high side though.

anyway, i'm eagerly waiting on your calculation of the sub 80k car.

Just curious would servicing Kia Spectra be expensive?  Parts easy to come by?

If i buy 2009 model and sell 2019 would it still qualify for loan and sell faster?  Or would the model have to be 2010?

Where do you find private seller?  Not many listed in mudah.

That in bold is not really true. Very often owners actually are arrogant and trying to sell even more expensive as if their cars are the best condition in the world, or like gold! Used car dealers on the other hand surely already got their cars at much lower price (low ballers) and you can bargain a lot with them, while if you do the same with direct owners, they will easily get offended.

Right now basically we have shortlisted a few option:

Sylphy (This version, not the older squarish one)
As you've mentioned a few times in the past I think this will be a good spacious car for a long distance or sometimes family travel.

However, we are quite confused by the fact that there are almost no difference between Sylphy and Taena in price difference. It makes us wonder whether it is more advisable to just shoot for a higher class Taena which will be more future proof. Of course we are also expecting a rise in maintenance costs. Are you aware of any issues we need to look at or do you have an opinion on which will be better?

Subaru XV
An outside shot right now is XV, or another one would be an ASX. We would actually prefer an SUV as we own one many years back. The driving position is favourable to us compared to sedans. But for our price range we are looking at alot of KIAs, Fords etc. Again we are expecting it to see a difference in maintenance cost if it is a Subaru.

What do you think of the 3 which makes more sense in this situation? Or do you think we should be looking at some other options that are available out there?

Still have alot of underlining problems eg. oil leak from engine, bad ball joints etc. Decided it's time to get a new ride before I have more down time & have to fork out more $ for a failed cause.

Have cash in hand RM35k as budget but hoping dun have to fully utilize that. Also had set aside RM5k in case need any repairs (fingers crossed not gonna end up getting a lemon so dun have to touch the RM5k). Have also budget RM500-1k/month for future maintenance eg. oil change, normal servicing etc (With RM5k as standby for any major repairs).

Used for daily commute of 120km-180km(70% City 30% Highway) for me, wife & a 4yo. Weekends usually <80km but need to carry 2-3 relatives for shopping/makan. Have plans for a few road trips from Johor to KL & Penang annually(should be just me, wife & kid or maybe 2 additional adults).

I'm actually fond of old cars (circa 1950s to 1980s) but dun think in this case it suits my needs. Been looking & reading up on late 90s-early 2000s Jap & Conti which falls into my budget & requirements. So far shortlisted late era 1st Gen Mazda 6 2.3 (A) & 9th Gen Toyota Altis 1.8G (A) as possible picks with my heart leaning alot towards Mazda 6 cuz I like the design, specs & lower price tag. As for Conti, read that Mercs from that era should be more reliable although I like looks of Beemers. My 4yo is crazy about Volvo so if there's a good model to recommend, will definitely consider so he gets to ride in one. Looking for something that will last at least the next 3-5yrs without any major down time. Would appreciate any recommendations(not just those I shortlisted).

Perodua  : Kenari , Kembara , Viva

Most of the vehicle that fit my budget are 13-20 year old vehicle and i don't expect it will still be good for another 5-10yrs just need for a vehicle that work for 2-3years with less problem.

Thanks bro! Ended up getting a Mazda 6 2.3 2007 from a private seller on mudah a week ago. Really enjoyed the drive
& the looks. 130k on the odometer with full service record & seller asking for rm28k which is well within my budget. So far so good but heard that can be quite hard to find spare parts for 1st gen M6 which would probably means pricey. Keeps fingers crossed.

just browsing thru mudah website and come across civic hybrid 1.5 year 2012-2013 with price arnd 55k. similar civic non hybrid is arnd 70k for the same year.

my question is, why the hybrid price is cheaper? is it not good, hard to maintain? in some ad, they tell that the battery still have warranty for quite some time..

is it because the battery replacement cost too high which make the model selling cheaper? other parts should be the same with non hybrid right?

performance is relative.... so if you ask me... performance is sad BUT as a vehicle to get you from A-B adequate, not like its under powered or anything, its just not fast
