My idea is,

If you can afford Japs, then no need waste time on Proton/Perodua.

You compare Proton/Perodua with Japs, people definitely suggest Japs.

If you don't ever want listen people's suggestion, then you shouldn't ask any single question and end up keep repeat your idea.

My mother has a toyota ipsum(picnic) at home so i have no argument against you.Yes now i admit that  japanese cars beat perodua and proton.My favourite japanese cars are definitely toyota picnic,toyota fortuner and toyota innova and honda civic.Proton Perdana is not a local car but japanese cars because honda made the whole body of proton perdana but proton did make some changes but in the end it is still a honda accord version of malaysia.

Iriz mt is a good car but japanese cars are just better than iriz and myvi.Yes my mother can afford a japanese car for me to drive but i still believe that national cars will return back to the right track after introducing Proton Iriz mt.I just  hope that the new saga and persona will not follow perdana's way to success because it is not the way to success and the new persona which  will be based on Proton iriz sedan.At least proton iriz beat myvi but still it is not enough to beat  japanese cars

Logo kills the proton and perodua.

Many people rather buy a Toyota/Honda than Proton or Perodua.

Even Proton/Perodua gave u turbo engine, good handling and etc good stuff and priced below than Toyota/Honda, still can't win Toyota/Honda that come with NA engine, so so handling.

And still, if I were u, I will just get Japs if afforable. Get what you really can afford.

No dont own a satria... told you a picture of my car is my used as my fb cover. you are just similar to digilife too. what do you all think of Honda CRV year 2007-2010 second hand, is it a good car? any common problem?

Vehicles that fit the bill perfectly.

-its found everywhere on our roads, parts are no issue all in all, a proven car.
Nissan X-Trail
-also a solid car, less common but reliable nonetheless

vehicles that kinda miss it by abit (this bunch are on the luxurious side)
Nissan Murano
-nice car, only issue? 2.5L tax~
Harrier
-also a nice car BUT the older 2.2L models are pretty old and looking abit dated now and the newer 2.5L models are nicer looking but cost quite abit more (correction, newer models are 2.4 not 2.5)

+both cars are very reliable and are basically mechanically speaking, bulletproof... luxury cars
-both cars do drink fuel rolling around in town

cars that i dont think you should consider BUT because i like to pop up with silly ideas that only appeal to me, let me throw in these 2 (jangan marah saya, i just really like these 2)

Mitsubishi Airtrek
+both are 2.0L turbo vehicles, both very powerful, both sport oriented
+both share many parts in its others in their respective families....
-unfortunately they can cost abit to maintain cause... power and budget never go hand in hand
-yeah turbos~ u did mention na but i like power

2010 Nissan Dualis - usually Nissan X-Trail would be a good choice but let's think outside the box abit, I know it is for old folks but you don't need to get them that boxy old folks looking car, you can opt for its JDM brother the Dualis. It is a JDM model so of course the build quality and materials used are better than the ones in the X-Trail but the best part is under the skin parts like the engine, gearbox, aircon, all wheel drive system, etc. is the same so you don't need to worry about limited parts supply or buying expensive flown in from Japan parts, you can use the locally made parts for the X-trail. Of course they don't look the same so if in the future an accident occurs getting body panel parts might not be as cheap but if an accident usually can claim insurance or 3rd party so I don't think that's a problem as long as your maintenance and upkeep is cheap that matters more.

2009 Toyota Fortuner 2.7 - the only black spot about this car is the engine displace of 2700cc of which the roadtax would cost you RM1,000 per year. Other than that it is a rock solid car like any Toyota. In terms of size it is slightly bigger than the CRV but they're in the same class, I think the old folks would enjoy a bigger and more comfortable ride while they're exploring the country. It is pretty cheap to maintain and parts are cheap as the Fortuner/Hilux/Innova share many common components. The only thing is your'll need to buy extra black oil for the bigger engine.
