Thanks for the suggestion. By the way, do you think the standard or premium? I would typically go for the standard to save cost, but I read somewhere that the paying the difference is worth considering the additional features (safely and so on).
*
Car sites got some spyshots of a new facelift Saga, may want to wait for that. Not sure about any differences tho.
I'd say going for the Premium is worth it if you can afford the bump in price, unless you really really want the Manual.

Should i go for the range topping axia or for roughly the same price a 1.3 CVT Iriz?
*
imo Axia not worth above Gxtra. I find the features from Style and beyond not worth above 37k, as at this price starting to lap into Saga, Iriz, base Myvi dy.

Hi sifu, please help.

1. Brand : P1 P2 T&H preferable.
2. Budget : less than 7k DP and monthly around Rm600 for 9rs (the lower dp and monthly, the better. Finding best bang for buck)
3. New/Used/Unreg : preferably new, scared 2nd hand got flood unit
4. Specs : doesn't matter
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : doesn't matter
7. Type : preferable sedan
8. Remarks : need to have Good sized boot. Previously driving 2013 myvi 1.3 but that car can't be used already.
*
Proton Persona Premium RM54,900 with 7k DP, interest rate at 3% ~RM560 monthly.

Thanks, but I see not much difference between exec and premium.
Should  really take premium, or just settle with exec?
*
Premium gets 2 extra airbags (6 vs 4), hopefully we don't get the chance to use them but these cannot be retrofitted.
Other than that, Premium gets black roof, LED reflectors (Exec gets Halogen), more features in the head unit, and leatherette interior.

If you can afford it, I would say yes to the extra airbags.

In Sabah the road is a bit harsh and would like to ask for suggestion for second hand car that i will sell once being transferred back to west Malaysia.

My distance from my house to workplace is 15 minutes and im abit of adventurous person myself. I am not a car savvy kind of guy.

These are my criteria
1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : 35k ~ 40k
3. New/Used/Unreg : used
4. Specs : -
5. Transmission : auto
6. NA or FI :  -
7. Type : 4 seater.
8. Remarks :

*
A little over budget, but Subaru XV came to mind.
AWD, a bit more ground clearance, but not that good on petrol iirc.

Hey sifu's, what is the "normal" processing fees for buying a used car through a dealer nowadays? I called a dealer around KL area, and he told me the price displayed on mudah.my or Carlist is just for the car, the processing fee on top of it can get to RM4.5-5k. I may be very wrong but for a RM40k used car, I find that amount ridiculous. What am I to expect walking into a dealer testing out cars that are displayed on used car websites?
*
Go for Carsome, MyTukar, their prices are net. I also find the practice of piling on processing fees, fee processing fees after you contact them is abhorrent.

Hi guys, please help advice. Thanks

1. Brand : Any
2. Budget : 80k+-
3. New/Used/Unreg : new or used
4. Specs : na
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : NA
7. Type : prefer hatchback & compact due to parking space but open to all type
8. Remark: reliable, plan to use it at least 7years as family car, city drive daily <15km,90% city drive maybe few times a year travel to other state. Penang area

Plan to get it on Q4 or Q1-2 next year.
*
QUOTE(dogbert_chew @ Jun 14 2022, 02:59 PM)
How big your family?
For higher reliability and keep more than 7 years suggest buy new.
Penang city drive with heavy traffic get SUV for height easier to see ahead.
Compact SUV I suggest Ativa. (X50 delivery in 2023 uncertain)
If don't need height Myvi is cheaper alternative. Want branded then Yaris. Both compact enough
*
Depends on how big your family is, and usually how many things you carry.
Ativa is actually quite small for a SUV, I would recommend other B-Segments or a used Corolla Altis.

that's because their roads are better too  biggrin.gif

with RM100k budget, it'll be a headache to get a good daily car. You're looking at ~2015 BMW320 F10 , 2013 Audi Q7 ... which IMHO is not worth the trouble over a new car especially if it's going to be your daily driver.

just to put it in perspective, a 2015 is already 7 years ! how much longer will it last ... 5 years ?

but personally to scratch that "conti" car itch, I bought a 2011 Alfa 159 for RM30k a few years back. Drive it a couple times a month and enough to satisfy me  laugh.gif
*
Wow 159. I really like that car. Wanna ask ah the parts and reliability of that car macam mana?

What are any good beaters under 20k (that are not national cars preferably)?

What I have gathered:
1) 1997 or 2005 Toyota Corolla
2) 2002 Toyota Camry
3) 2009 Nissan Sentra
4) Anything else?

What I need the car to do is just mainly city driving, occasionally long distance.
I care for my cars, service on time, never race them.
Of the above choices or other cars, what workhorses can still tahan for another 10 years?

People around me told that my choices are already too old, spare parts starting to be scarce.

Yr Ativa already perfect for city drive with low end max torque from the turbo and slightly higher view for jams and elevated ride for potholes.

What exactly are you looking for in these 20 yr old beaters,  Ride & handling?  How about Peugeot

https://www.mudah.my/+2016+Peugeot+308+1+6+...SH-96328551.htm

Money pit though.. Need deep pockets.

Sold to save up for more important things :x Now looking to cash buy a beater/daily.

Hey guys, i managed to checkout the proton x90 but have a weird dilemma now. Honestly, everything about it feels good except it felt so big. No test drive available yet but Ive never driven such big car before. So big im actuallly reconsidering to get veloz now because of size (cheaper also being plus point). Would like to get some advice on driving big cars. Many questions in my mind.
1) Is it easy to get used to driving big cars
2) How dificult is it to find parking?
3) Is it even good reason to choose veloz over x90 because smaller size and easier to drive at cost of comfort?
*
i drive a (quite) long car now, compared to previous cars the parking spots (especially no lines or box parking) have to think before park. but at the same time i treat as training my side parking skills, spoiled by too many small cars.
but unless you regularly park or double park at places with no lines or boxes, shouldnโ€™t be too much of an issue.
more importantly should consider if parking space at home adequate.

for family usage. normal city use most of the time, only highway - probably nkve, elite, federal, ldp.. the usual KV highways.
maybe occasional interstate travels.
definitely avoid those.
just generally, say buy through a platform. Maybe carsome / mytukar.
budget 20k.. what can I get?
Myvi (1st and 2nd gen - lagi best?) or 1st gen vios?
*
was in the same boat recently. same for family use, any car with no airbags were out of the list immediately.
my choices were:
corolla altis (e110 and e120, 1.8G Facelift E120 preferred)
camry acv30
accord 7 gen
vios 1st gen
vw polo 1.6

didnt consider myvi because house already had one and was looking at something a bit more sturdy, but if had to choose i would find 1.5 second gen.

in the end chose camry because family preferred it over the other choices.

looking back i would have picked altis, polo or vios, as camry even it was old it is still d-segment, bad fuel consumption (7kml for city driving) and expensive parts.
but good or well maintained examples of these cars may be difficult to find.

Hi All. I plan to upgrade from HRV RS 1.8 (bought new) to HRV E 1.5T (used)

Should I proceed guys?

Thanks
*
what year is your 1.8 RS?

hrv earliest 1.8RS at around 2019?
to me that doesnt seem like a necessary upgrade.
somemore is buying someone elseโ€™s car whereas your current ride is first hand.

but if you have the cash to burn and you like the turbo, go ahead.

Thank you for the recommendation ๐Ÿ™, but after reconsidering my financials, I have revised a bit of my budget, as the max I can go is 11k ๐Ÿ˜…, and my preferred budget is 8k.

1. Brand: Any
2. Budget: Around 8k (Max RM11k)
3. New/Used/Unreg: Any
4. Specs: 1000 to 1600 cc engine
5. Transmission: Automatic (No Manual, No AMT)
6. NA or FI: Any
7. Type: Any
8. Remarks: Priority is safety should have at least ABS, and second priority is low maintainance, and third priority is fuel efficiency. Also frequent traveller between Klang Valley and Seremban.

Any rides that fit the bill?
*
The only cars I can think of are
1) Nissan Sentra N16
2) Toyota Corolla SEG

Both have airbags and ABS.

Exora too big for only 3 of us

considered alza? only slightly smaller than exora but i seen older models <20k.

QUOTE(zenix @ Feb 20 2024, 12:21 PM)
[/spoiler]

I understand Kenari would be something you think of because P2 is known for reliable cars but P2 cars like Kenari and Kelisa of that era aren't as safe when it comes to accident survivability. Let me show you a few for your consideration.

2007 Nissan Dualis - this is actually the twin of the boxy X-Trail (the one before the current one) it is a realible car, an SUV which isn't too big or too high, would be great for oldies getting in and out. Parts and maintenance isn't an issue as apart of body panels it shares almost all components with X-Trail. And, YES, you would be budgeting to upkeep of a 2000cc car instead of a 1000cc car but safety and performance I see offset the slightly higher upkeep bill.

didn't even know this model was released in malaysia.

I know. silly me, stupid me. my own problems.  mega_shok.gif  mega_shok.gif

like girls emotion, change suddenly (just joking. Im not sexist . sweat.gif  sweat.gif )  Just feel like a sudden change of preference. Just like " you really wanted that Iphone 15, after you bought , ok enough... i dont want it anymore. time to get iphone 16 (not exist yet) "
*
if you sell now will already lose 10-20%

this is what i would do, i am bad at finances so take it w a grain of salt.

use for a year or two, if at that time you still feel that you want to sell then sell. because new used cars depreciates at a sharp 10-20% of value anyways, so just use until the depreciation plateaus baru sell, not as sakit.

again, this is not financial advice, i'm probably wrong but this is what i would do la.
