QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 1 2016, 08:03 AM) Go for it. Just remember buy ori games. Steam sales now. Dont be like the douche I read in FB group that have the RM3K to buy one but cant afford games and downloading cracks instead. Can afford car, cant afford petrol. Already bought all the necessary games for it. Building peice by piece. Latest piece arrive was the Win10 oem key yesterday. Have all the watercooling parts ready, XB271hu gsync monitor, but the the core stuff like the motherboard cpu and gpu still not yet. Still want to see what kaby lake has to offer. But then.. the waiting game. And also the SM961 already release, and wanted to see how Samsung 960 pro ssd performed. NVME ssd is also on the core list of the part.Hopefully i can carry over the universal gpu block to 1080. According to EK website, should be ok. QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jul 5 2016, 05:43 AM) More updates on the GTX 1060: I personally think SLI is coming to a dead end in few years time. When developers embraces DX12/vulcan pool gpu allocation. Nvidia quick to realize this.![]() ![]() ![]() - shorter PCB - a proper placed 6-pin power connector, finally - no SLI support That's how a leak turned into a raging flood, the NVIDIA style. http://www.tech-critter.com/2016/07/nvidia...0-founders.html |

MSI 1080 FE seems to be the cheapest FE? Thinking of getting this and do some ghetto mods like GN Hybrid.
Seems like 1080 custom design, even with extra 6 pin and badass vrm, is not alot better in terms of overclocking from the FE. Plus I hate those custom huge PCB. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 7 2016, 08:57 AM) Voltage locked to 1.25V, irregardless of FE or AIB. To OC, you need to bump up the core and memory frequency, to bump up frequency you need to pump in more voltage, you hit a brick wall at 1.25V no matter how cool your 1080 is under air or under water. My initial plan is to carryover my current Universal GPU block to 1080. I've found out that the VRM heatsink is separate unit in the FE card. Thats a good news for me. Thus the idea of doing the same thing like what Gamer Nexus did. In the end, it's all about fat cards with bling-bling RGBs with pre-OC frequencies out of the factory, or get slim FE cards and OC it yourself. You play the silicon lottery: you lucky on the FE, you get 2088Mhz on core clock like I got. You unlucky on the AIB cards, you cant even get past 2050Mhz, no matter how high it was pre-OCed out of the factory. Gamers Nexus got their frankensteined 1080 FE slapped with AIO liquid cooling up to 2164Mhz, but if 76Mhz is all Im getting for a liquid cooler, no thanks. The thing with FE, is the price. And I really don't need those fat heatsink of AIB. Maybe i just like things to follow reference and standard. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 7 2016, 10:25 AM) Because it overclocks poorly, and ASUS has the tendency to overprice as well, maybe that's why nobody wanna stock this model? My current case is Ncase M1 mini-itx. I watercooled both gpu and cpu. But im moving back to ATX with this built. Just in case, i can use back my ncase M1 with reference 1080 on it. My option is FE or AIB with reference board with nothing fancy.Try Palit or Leadtek. I have no choice but to go reference due to the Raven's SFF case. Even if there are "slim" AIB models with two fans for example, I'm not interested in cooking my SFF case internals, versus the blower-style FE card. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jul 7 2016, 09:37 PM) http://www.hardwarezone.com.my/tech-news-n...dition-official I remember the 4850 is around 600-700 RM. Maybe less? 4870 is slightly over 1k. http://www.lowyat.net/2016/109080/nvidia-g...around-rm-1000/ 2016 already and people still never learn, still want to convert the announced SRP for upcoming graphics card to MYR with exchange rate. Dream on guys, it doesn't work that way. I has never been direct conversion since the 1990s and it won't be even now. Your best bet to avoid disappointment is to multiply it by 5.2. SRP x exchange rate x 1.3 (add 30%, at a bare minimum). Both are 199 / 299 card. The exchange rate at that time 3.2/3.3. |

Wow. Didn't know only malaysia got this special treatment from Zotac. A full black reference design 1070. Note that it is not FE card, but a reference card. So price will be cheaper than FE.

Was expecting GTX Titan XP to use HBM2. Not the case. Well, I guess nvidia already anticipate Vega performance. I hope they're wrong, or else don't be disappointed with Vega.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 23 2016, 09:04 PM) Are there any informative discussion forums other than HardForum or Overclock.net that I can refer to, with regards to the new Titan X performance, and if/should I get one or two for SLI. Even those forums had degenerated into mudslinging, with fanboys of the same camp calling names to those who can afford and/or want to get the new Titan X. 4K60Hz on a single card is an important metric and this card may be able to do so. God damn. Let me know if those 1080 FE is up for sale. My Frankenstein 1080 project still on.Don't really care about full fat GP102, or GP100 with HBM, unless you wanna pay more than what already is. All I need is 4K60Hz without having to jump through SLI hoops. Seeing that this may finally be a 4K60Hz card at all maxed out, I may not need another one, but if I miss out on the August 2nd purchase window, stock may be gone and would be even worse than the current GTX1080 situation. SLI situation aren't encouraging either in DX12/Vulkan/OpenGL, wouldn't want that second Titan X idling doing nothing but occasional PhysX. I guess I should wait till August 2nd, but that's cutting it to short to the launch/purchase window. |
