SHAH ALAM: A Datuk Seri and a Datuk, believed to be masterminds of a get-rich-quick investment scam that promised investors a return of one percent a day, have been nabbed by police.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said two men, aged 45 and 40, were arrested during raids on two houses at Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur at about 11am last Thursday.
Comm Mazlan said the two were believed to be the masterminds behind an investment scam called Bookcoin, which promised investors returns of one percent a day and 30% every month.
Comm Mazlan said that during the raid, police seized 17 luxury watches, 35 designer bags, 16 silver bars and two luxury cars estimated to be worth RM1.05mil.
He added that police also seized a total of RM1.06mil in cash and foreign currencies as well as a Bookcoin ATM machine.
Comm added that four police reports were lodged in early August.
He added that initial investigations revealed that there are more than 200 investors who were duped.
