I just got the latest MBA (13inch) over the weekend and the guys at Mac Studio helped me activate my unit and I didn't realise anything wrong at that time. Only when I got home I then found out that the display screen on my MBA looks very yellowish (looks a bit like when your iphone is on Night Shift mode). I tried calibrating the colours but it either stays very yellowish or gets too cool and dull (bluish). I don't expect it to look as pretty as my old MBP but the yellow is really bugging me - especially when I look from my ipad/iphone to my MBA screen.

I read a few international forums that suggest that macbooks with a yellow tint on the display could be defects. Did anyone face the same issue and know how to remedy this? Will I be able to replace my unit if unfixable? It sucks to know I paid so much to get something I won't enjoy sad.gif

Thanks for all the feedback. The strangest thing happened to me. When I took it to the mac city service centre at 1U, the display seems nothing wrong at all.

I brought it back home because I needed to use it the next day and planned to bring it back to the service centre in the weekend, and the screen has been working fine ever since. It's just so weird!

maybe the glue on the screen finally set when the screen broke in.

how yellow is the yellow? MBA screen is not retina display, and color accuracy is not on par with macbook pro.

It was being discussed for quite sometimes on its display panel that differs according to different manufacturer: LG, Samsung, AUO

May be you're comparing against MBP but sorry to tell that MBA has diff type of display

Can't replace it in MY. MY has no official physical Apple Store that promised refund/exchange for detects, nor has any exchange policy from the Apple Authorised Reseller.

The usual would be sending it to Authorised Service centre. But before that, give AppleCare a call and seek their advice, and have a case ready for your unit for faster process.

The yellow was like an abnormal shade that it looks obvious something's wrong with the display. I know not to compare with MBP but the MBA colour itself was already looking very off. confused.gif

What a bummer dry.gif

At least my MBA looks fine now without me sending for a recheck. Just praying that nothing unusual happens again

1 the Panel uses TN, not IPS not OLED.

TN sucks cause it need perfect angle to see perfectly, else the pic will tainted with color (yellow, blue, pink) so yeah TN panel... kind sux

Macbook Air and old Macbook Pro (non retina) uses TN Panel as LCD display

Newer Macbook and Macbook Pro (Retina) uses IPS which has better image accuracy and can view from wider angle...
