I'm using BENQ 7700 for 1.5 years. I'm a DLP guy so my review might be a little bit bias. Also, I'm spending a lot of time tuning my projector using Colorimeter and some software to fine tune to perfect D65, gamma curve of 2.5 and using Color Correction filter to boost the contrast.

For current generation, I still find out DLP have the advantage of sharper image and higher contrast as DLP had lower black level compare to LCD. If you watch a lot of dark material, this might be a important factor for purchasing projector. Bright image normally no issue for projector as you can feel the 3D pop in the image but dark scene may look wash out (This happen to LCD TV).

Only cons is some people might affected by rainbow effects of DLP (5% of the population) so if you are not bother by this, try out both DLP and LCD to decide.

Also, make sure you have a dedicated theater room as it need dark room to perform the best. for all this review, please goto www.avsforum.com

One last thing is don't buy those cheap unbranded screen.

I also face the bulb problem last year but luckily BENQ service center in Penang change it FOC with the new bulb design and upgrade my firmware to the latest version which solved the lamp burned issue.

Also, dynamic iris to me is not a long term solution as it only looks good on paper but when you hit a scene where is a mixture of bright and dark object, the picture will looked wash out. Also, dynamic iris is tough to tune as each scene change automatically based on the algorithm in the system.

Some new model of projector which carry real contrast 15000:1 is coming soon but cost a bomb for it's intro price. I'm looking to upgrade on next phase when 1080p projector drop to around RM 10,000 and with real contrast of 10000:1

Thanks for the info. At last I went to AVS and check others comment as well.

I will call up Panasonic and ask them about the color uniformity problem... But last night I watched X Men 3... It was wonderful. Kekekeke...

Jason, I did what you mentioned, put the mode to Normal instead of Eco Mode and yup, the flicker is not there anymore. But this means problem. This means that the unit is not good. So... hope Panasonic service is good.

The flicker normally happen because of the lamp arc issue. Normally after watching in normal mode for few days will solved this problem. If still persist, you can ask them to change to new bulb. That's what I do with my BENQ when it happen. Call their service center and they ack as a problem.
