hi bros,

In the market for a 720p projector, LCD TVs not cutting it, all the images have that pastel look. I'm a fan of image depth and 3 dimensional colour. Wonderin which projector (Epson, Panny) has this CRT-like quality? The dilemma I'm facing is my budget is quite tight, what's new, rite rclxub.gif

any idea where can I demo the Epson TW700? thumbup.gif My options are the Epson or maybe should I take a chance with Panny AX100 even with bro timothyy's problem with his. Maybe can get a good unit, from what I read at the AVS forums, some people do get a good unit..Cos Musical Image at the KL AV Show sellin it at 5500 drool.gif Very tempting!

Another option would be PriceJapan's Mitsubishi HD3100 (Rm6xxx). According to reviews, it has that image depth. need all your advice on this one. Thanks in advance.

since u also selling Optoma, Why not get hd70.  If I'm travel to US now, sure I'll pickup the Hd70... USD $949 damm cheap now.

Btw.  anyone bought any electronic stuff from amazon b4?

Amazon sellin HD70 for $749 after a mail in rebate. or if u have Amex, can use their E-shop facility to deliver it to M'sia. Can use it to buy stuff that can't be shipped internationally before this. HD70 at AV show, pic not bad but the price difference of bout RM2k+ if get it locally.

If Panny offer a 1 to 1 exchange for AX100, definitely worth it! Another alternative, PriceJapan? only our beloved customs tax stopping me. Anyone seen Mitsubishi HD3100 in M'sia? Reviews noted the excellent contrast on it. PJ sellin bout 6k brows.gif

Have you tried the local distributors?  Believe me when I tell u this, you can get prices similar to pricejapan IN Malaysia!! U just need to shop around and negotiate persistently.

Importing electronics is just too much hassle, and dun forget, waranty will be a problem, unless u get it in black and white.

Thanks for all the useful advice, Jason. Will keep this in mind when go window shopping notworthy.gif Bro Jason, u know who is the local distributor for Mitsubishi projectors. Already tried Monsoon and Mediaplex KLCC, none of them carry this brand anymore.

Sadly, I have to stick to a budget of 6k. If I go all out for 1080p light cannon like the Epson nod.gif afraid no more cash for audio side of things. Now, if some kind hearted soul could point me the right direction to a Mitsubishi HD3100 in Malaysia..

Sorry for the late reply bro, juz been busy wif work, otherwise cannot afford a projector biggrin.gif Haven't called them yet but goin to do a free advertisment for bro htkaki. He is selling the Optoma HD70 for only RM4500. That's pretty close to the current US price. Think I'm goin to start with a Optoma cos Mitsu here not popular. What do u think?

Optoma is a good buy for the price, but make sure u understand the limitations of that Optoma when u buy or u will regret later.  Go audition it before u make ur final decision.

Thanks jason! Actually I've seen the HD70 at the AV Show. Passable black levels to me. Already accounted for the fixed offset this projector has. Thank god IKEA has this customisable shelf that's perfect for projector mounting. Planning to mount it on the bottom of shelf to accomodate the offset.

Lucky for me also, can't see the RB's on this 4x color wheel. Hopefully I haven't left out else? BTW who has a HD70 here? Opinions are most welcomed. thumbup.gif

Indeed would like to have 1080p, sadly small budget won't allow for it. From what I see on Amazon, HD discs only cover box office movies, foreign movies/independant movies are available on DVD format only. So by the time every studio is on the HD bandwagon, probably another 2 years time, we would saved enough to upgrade-rite? Hopefully JVC comes up with a low cost RS1 by then rclxms.gif

I think can find sun RM10K 1080p, but must nego hard and shop around.  The margin charged for this stuff in huge, and sometimes shops will give incredible discounts if you are persistent but in a nice way.

HD/BR is not 2 years away, its here already but just not in a big way, there are plenty of titles out there.  And have many shops selling already.  If all fails can alsways get from overseas.

But go with what u think its right for u, 720p/1080p.... its all good.  Lastly, a low cost RS1 will not be an RS1 will it?

Actually there is an alternative to RS1. nod.gif Anyone know which shop still selling those JVC HD-ILA rear projection tvs, wouldn't mind get one instead of a projector.

Speaking of HD, saw the Toshiba HD E1 Player ad in the Star today, RM2,499 with 3 free HD DVD titles. How come US gets 5 free ones and we get 3 only?
