Mimpi spotted... if below RM10k... we all would have hung it on our ceilings by now.

I guess you guys like to pay near retail prices for your purchases..
things like projectors have a large difference between SRP and street prices.. (unlike computer parts)
and as you have mentioned you were offered 5k below SRP (I think 14999) for the AE-1000 ...so going through the right channels and talking to the right contacts will get you a very good price..

that's why I got a low price for the Mitsubishi HC5000

when I'm ready to get a new 1080p proj then only press the prices again with the suppliers ..currently I got a 600hour underused AE-900 with a spare bulb to boot...need to burn more bulb hours 1st..before considering next purchase..

actually true 480p material is quite decent when upscale to 720p TVs

it's just that DVD's are not "true" 480p material.. they are 640x480 stretched to 720x480 (for anamorphic NTSC dvds) and further stretched to 16:9 to fit your TV..so it's not really actual 854x480p which is a EDTV resolution.

just my casual observation..

dunno why never fancied yammy speakers or pioneer or jvc or what ever jap brand HT speaker for that matter... I would prefer the brits (even if made in malaysia or china) if possible... after all the jap speakers not even cheap to consider if priced over 1k per each pair!

go to AV show can get super cheap and decent quality..usually sold in rolls so long length should be quite resonably priced....

This is a M1 connector, my projector looks like.

currently i am using M1-DA to Vga @  my computer. My display card is 8800GT which have 2 DVI and 1 Connector for HDCP + SVideo.

so my plan is to use M1 to RCA Component to get HD movies.

user posted image

this cable is optional for my projector dell 3400mp, this cable is available with good price in overseas but not in malaysia (RM200+)

so it's really worth to migrate from VGA to Component ?

rx, my display card dont have hdmi,  hmm.gif
*
why you want to migrate to component? VGA is superior than component RCA, unless your projector VGA input doesn't support high resolutions (say like until 1280x1024), in which, then using component 1080i/1080p would then be prefered IMHO..

what is your Proj native resolution?
what is your proj max VGA resolution accepted?

need to check these before knowing if using component will mean going backward..

DVI to VGA, I presume your Video card does DVI-A since you are just using a dongle VGA converter meaning it's already analog DVI to start with so no quality diff between VGA and DVI-A.

since i my display card i am using dvi to vga converter, it's digital to analog ready right, unless i can find M1-DA to DVI is better is it ?

DVi to vga connector dongle? that the analog portion of the DVI connector (DVI can carry Analog and digital if the video card permits) from your Video card, so this is analog signal coming out from the Video card (not DVI-D)
since the native is XGA 1024x768, just feed it with VGA lor and save the special cable.. putting in 1080i component won't help much anyway.. (IMHO)

ok, but if can shift from M1-DA - Vga to M1-DA to DVI is better right, is the diffence noticeable ?
*
should be better, but whether better enuf to justify a costly cable purchase, not sure..
