But i guess they don't have many of those old bd titles for sales anymore, like the 90's film example "Face/Off", "Broken Arrow", "The Rock"....just to name a few, i have seen these titles for sales at speedy outlets a long time ago, but now it seems they almost non-existence, can't find them
*
agreed. maybe they're clearing up old or catalogue titles... and once sold, they're not going to reorder/stock-up blush.gif the '2 for RM88' is not too bad actually – i saw GoTG 1 & 2, Thor, Captain America Winter Soldier and some other Marvel titles in this category, Jurassic World and some other top titles thumbup.gif although it's not that cheap, but certainly RM44.00 each is much2 better than the normal but ridiculously priced RM79.90 or RM99.90! doh.gif

Just take care TO AVOID Captain America: Civil War.

The Asian release of Civil War has lossy DTS-HD HR 7.1 audio, instead of the lossless DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio.

AFAIK all other MCU BDs do not have this weird problem.
*
good advice... btw already owned captain america civil war US version years ago during black friday. that is one reason why i'm not that fond on buying any asian region A blu-ray;other than the usual bad quality packaging printing!! doh.gif

even without BF, usually UK version boxset cheaper than US version.
However, I only owned few UK boxset due to ugly design and bulky casing.
*
plus the annoying "nipple" on them laugh.gif

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Dec 27 2019, 09:05 AM)
probably due to lazy packaging designer. just cut, copy and paste then done job  doh.gif
*
i wont necessary have issue with cut n pate job since that is the master artwork from the movie studio... but the not-so-great printing job done by local printers. i think apart from quality and features of the PQ/AQ of the disc, it is the packaging overall quality... seems to be one of the reason we collect and keep the so-called "physical" media; now that "digital" or "streaming" has been the popular choice among general audiences cool2.gif

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Dec 31 2019, 08:58 AM)
do you consider to design your on cover page or print image from internet for BD and replace those ugly one?
*
ermm... if only i have spare time to do so. but i dont really matter much the original cover design so far released by studios although i may prefer a certain design of a movie for a format i won't be buying; for instance i may prefer a 3D blu-ray cover release instead of the standard blu-ray one which i'm owning. wink.gif

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Dec 31 2019, 08:58 AM)
Yeah. I prefer boxset that have slim casing, e.g. Matrix Trilogy from US.

I thought Europe countries will have better idea on environmental friendly by reducing plastic use, but the UK BD casing speak louder  whistling.gif
*
aik, i heard you recently mentioned you'd prefer to fill-up your shelf... so a thicker casing of a boxset title is better than a slim-case one, no...? whistling.gif
personally i'd prefer a slimmer-case too – my favourite is the Austin Powers Triple Feature; it's so thin all three casing combined almost the same thickness as a normal single case bluray! thumbup.gif

sometimes amazon was too generous... for the past 2-3 years, when i just informed them that one parcel was arriving late, they just gave me the option of either a replacement order FOC, a full refund, waived shipping fee or gave me a promotional certificate (ie. $$$ for my next purchase) without me giving any hint of asking for those!! whistling.gif cool2.gif

depend which customer service did you get.
if you get those from indian, usually hard to get perks from them compare to US customer service
*
oh okay... for me 9 out of 10 of my conversations with an amazon customer service personnel are from indian descent! so far they've been generous la, nod.gif only once that my request was questioned but still a solution was achieved. it really depends on case by case i think... or by your luck i suppose hmm.gif

but of course sometimes you have to use the "reverse psychology" method when interacting with them as i always do. praise them or the company a bit, make it felt like you're really disappointed and frustrated about the issue you’re facing and tell them amazon is the company you trusted from years of dealing bla bla bla… always works for me, at least most of the time! thumbup.gif just don't be hostile or being too harsh on them (although sometimes you deserve to be hostile blush.gif )... but the reverse psycho always works to my advantage! cool2.gif

Bah!

I contacted the help desk, and they said I have to mail them back for a full refund sad.gif
*
wth?? if you return, will they reimburse your return postal charges? it's not even your fault they sent the wrong item mad.gif i havent ordered from Amazon Canada so i'm not that familiar with their customer service SOP!

once, long ago... i ordered 'i am legend' blu-ray from Amazon.com but they sent me HD-DVD format instead doh.gif when i contacted their customer service, they said they can refund or offer me for a replacement order FOC... but the best thing is they said "you don't have to return the blu-ray version, you can choose to giveaway to family members or donate to charity..." laugh.gif thumbup.gif

Hey guyz... question on a region free 4K Blu-ray player.. Where to find in Malaysia? Lazada wanted RM 1800 whereas on Amazon US it’s $350! Any problems getting it sent from USA? Duties? Tax? Malaysian certification required..?

Thanks!
*
I recommend you buy in m’sia bro... even if at amazon US the price is cheaper, you have not consider its shipping and handling costs... and on top of it, the more important factor, you need a power adaptor since US electrical appliances run on lesser voltage of 120V; which is less than malaysia’s 240V requirement... sweat.gif

Sony UBP-X700 - RM 1.3k at Harvey Norman.

is this the cheapest non-china brand 4K blu-ray player with dolby vision capable? hmm.gif

I have Panasonic UB400, picture quality is not as great as others. This UB450 is difficult to buy as not selling official locally and review also said picture quality is not as good as others. https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/panasonic-dp-ub450

HDR 10+ is useless for me as my TV is LG C9, LG will never add-in support of HDR 10+, same as Samsung will never add-in Dolby Vision support.

I think I better stick with Sony which had better review. smile.gif
*
really arr bro... 4K also can have not so good picture quality if compare between brands? i thought this "ultra-high definition" format is the creme de la creme of all visual media now.... hmmm hmm.gif

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Mar 30 2020, 10:21 PM)
I check the box before, and as usual only 4K UHD Blu-ray is region free. Blu-ray wise is region A and DVD is region 3.
*
finally the BDA made a wise decision to drop the region-coding nonsense on its 4K UHD home media...

how sad to remember back then when dvd started the whole region-coding mess – i bought my then RM2.5k pioneer dvd player that couldn't play my RM135 US-imported R1 Terminator 2 Judgment Day dvd some 23 years ago!! just when i was excited like crazy jumping onto the so-called advanced new digital home media format and suddenly left me sleepless nights for days caused by this problem doh.gif laugh.gif

Ya, player quality is different on different price range, I read review just known about it. I had compare my remux copy with actual disc and notice Apple TV 4K had better video output compare with my value 4K UHD Player where have sometimes black crush issue. That the reason I plan to buy the Sony one, review is great with Dolby Vision support. smile.gif Anyway now want to buy also can't, need to wait end of 414, and please ended and no more extend, if continue everyone will suffer especially on economy part and also health issue, if extend means it is not safer.
*
understand your point on the 4K quality one. icon_rolleyes.gif

btw on the MCO, will only extend if covid case got any worse... let's hope our country will flatten the curve by the 14th. US oso extended til end of april! lagi teruk... doh.gif

Now lets enjoy more movies during this stay at home period. smile.gif

agree bro! so what are you watching.... rewatch all your old blu-rays / 4Ks / dvds or the new ones? for me, at the moment i'm catching up on most movies i missed at the cinema this year on digital... just before they were all shut down. nod.gif

good advice. i may get one 4k player (maybe the ones you suggested) in the future... not so soon though because i only have like 3 titles in 4k blush.gif furthermore, need to upgrade my other gears to fully access anything 4k to start with. btw, may i know what brand and model of receiver are you using for your 4k experience? apologies if this question is slightly veered off topic sweat.gif

I don't own proper sound system but only a soundbar. Below is my current entertainment system.

  • LG 55" C9 OLED TV (just upgrade, HDR really needs highest nits, huge differences compare with my previous Panasonic EX600K)
  • LG SK9Y 5.1.2 Channel SoundBar (upgradable to 7.1.2 if purchase rear speaker)
  • Panasonic DMP-UB400 4K UHD Player (plan upgrade to Sony UBP-X700 for Dolby Vision support)
  • Apple TV 4K (main device for now, haha!)
  • Mi Box S (seldom use, only use for Dimsum apps)
