No body support ori anymore

nobody support pirate stuff anymore also... most of my neighbourhood "durian" sellers have closed down business – people either streamed contents or download themselves nowadays laugh.gif although my household has two netflix accounts, nothing beats the ori physical media when it comes to movies – picture & audio quality, additional contents etc – unbeatable IMO rclxms.gif

your Netflix acc ori or those pirated one?  brows.gif
Netflix also have 4k. I found the picture quality no different from 4k BD
*
haha... netflix got pirate one oso ar? cheaper or free? brows.gif whistling.gif
yup true, it has 4K too, but the problem is... this is beautiful malaysia, our internet speed here although claimed to be the broadest of the bands, it is not the US... picture quality fluctuates when bitrate drops etc doh.gif and does interfere with our viewing pleasure at times, at least here in my area rclxub.gif

in LYN got people selling cheaper Netflix account and other account. You will get what I mean  tongue.gif
Yeah, physical disc still the best for now. Maybe after 5G launch, thing will change.
Everyone will only buy digital copy in future
*
yup, looks like we have to go with the flow sooner if not later... with the tech biggrin.gif

i guess nowadays we like everything simplified in our lives – for good or bad. we used to glorify 5.1 separates home theatre system; receiver, subwoofer, with surround speakers bla bla... now we have soundbar and all-in-one cool2.gif

well not really, i'm still using my dino-age dolby digital 5.1 home theatre system yawn.gif whistling.gif . but everytime i made rounds to home theatre centres or at electrical appliances section, one sales person will want to promote / sell the soundbar to me, when i asked for separates doh.gif

no! dont close this thread la... we must be the saviour for this dying format.... sweat.gif

btw, just want to share this weird thing happened to me. being a cheapskate as i am, i only buy blu-rays towards the end of the year when the Black Friday is around the corner! so no purchases during the rest of the year.... but late last month, out of the blue, i received some refunds (around USD2+) credited into my credit card from amazon.com! when i checked in the email, it mentioned "refund – export fee reduced" from my last order way back from last november! does anyone else here experienced this same thing from amazon? hmm.gif

not that i complained, but if want to refund... much2 more than USD2 la... laugh.gif

quite long time didn't buy anything from amazon.
The previous refund usually settle within a month, never that long gap.

USD2 better than nothing. could buy some BD  thumbup.gif
*
true bro... USD2 can be used for BF next month tongue.gif

btw, just discovered this: i chose amazon global expedited shipping... though price is same as international shipping, they added ‘import tax deposit’ into the invoice that’s why!! and it takes 9-10 months to refund!? tapi okla... at least i got my stuff earlier than international shipping... thumbup.gif

I heard from some one that speedy video will close all the outlets from this year until 2020...only remain the branch in Johor state, and I have thinking it might be true since the new opening shopping mall "mid valley southkey" in jb recently have open a new store in it
*
oh, that's a shame.... i think they know it's immenent, physical is dying. but i still prefer physical over streaming and all that.

but hey, who needs speedy video when we can buy from online retailers which is way cheaper. price was a factor too for physicals selling in m'sia (unless the selective discounted titles offered by speedy recently). if we compare side-by-side the price of a normal movie ticket; in m'sia about RM15-18... and so does in the States USD15-16 ish, so it is close. so why the-f when a blu-ray in the US is selling between USD15-25, in m'sia price difference is like sky high at around RM79.00-100.00++??? doh.gif

Kinda missed the old days where you get excited when they selling titles which you really wanna dig it...! All the outlet at my location was all closed, and I haven't choose to use streaming service yet  hmm.gif

Speedy video was the only source to touch & pick the physical media on the spot where you cannot get this kind of experience based online, although online selection was a lot wider & choices

Hmm...they should take the notice and reduce the bd price if they want to keep the business going. Anyway they have announced will start an online based business to sell their media's, but not sure when will started
*
QUOTE(maskedchan @ Oct 10 2019, 02:26 PM)
instead of close down the shop, should try for online business instead.

they already have online business quite sometime ago actually... the last time i visited their website, nothing much there shakehead.gif

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Oct 10 2019, 06:51 PM)
can't help but respond to this line...

how true... the days when one of the highlights of walking thru a mall is to visit a store like speedy... BDs, DVD's, CD's LP's...

and happily pay, carry them in a bag, can't wait to go home to play them.

now, all that fun and good feel is taken away... u gotta go punch a few keys on the keyboard to order them. laugh.gif

time passes... tech creeps in, ways of doing things, big and small... get changed, forever...
*
i share the same feeling with you AVFAN. but mine goes way back 20+ years ago when DVD was in their infancy in m'sia. me getting stock not from speedy (because speedy only stock Region 3 DVDs and not so many choices tongue.gif ), but from those individual shops run by uncles at sg wang plaza in KL who also selling laser discs, DVD players, TVs, top-end AV equipments and stuffs thumbup.gif it's always an exciting trip from d'sara utama to sg wang right after office knowing certain titles just being released on DVD and already arrived at the store! but at that time only can afford one title per visit! i paid between RM120-125 per title for a red hot Region 1 DVD! good old days.... whistling.gif

certainly the excitement and fun already gone nowadays when you get to just click what title you want and all almost readily available....

does anybody still dwell into the black friday sales on amazon since friday... or no one here has any interest in physical copy anymore? laugh.gif

i think the price of blu-ray and 4k titles not as alluring as they used to be years ago. blush.gif but i bought some, because some titles i held back from purchasing during streetdate releases, so they're quite a good bargain.

yup, all normal blu-ray. i would've bought the 4K ones if price is lower or almost similar nod.gif

this is good price.. only USD2.2 per movies.  thumbup.gif
wait for next year, it will be 9.99  whistling.gif

ya lor, it goes on sale like "lightning deal" quick... i managed to put into my cart but when i was about to check out, it says out of stock... so it went straight into 'wait for later' and then few hours later back to USD19.90 doh.gif (but still a good deal for 6 flix!) btw, currently still got stock with USD19.96 price tongue.gif i even have a few titles from previous years' BF purchase that i still have not opened yet laugh.gif obviously now the prices are very much lower than when i bought them, oh well.... whistling.gif

so you bought BD for keeping only?
I had a lot of title have not open yet.
some even I watched in Netflix but not on the BD I bought
*
i just have this disease of impulse purchase, especially during black friday... cannot tahan the cheap price reduction laugh.gif yup... actually it's for keeping (for collection)! some movies just nice for holding and looking at the covers etc; and not just watching the movies in them... if to just watch, then can go to netflix or other 'sources' whistling.gif

btw, do you consider selling the unopenend collections after a few years...? sometimes i do feel that – wanted to sell those titles and then repurchase later on those with a bundle-up or in boxsets which are value for money and bang for the buck while save on shipping per item fee! cool2.gif

...and to add, can save space on my small and cramped blu-ray shelf! imagine 1 movie and its 7 sequels can saved the space to just one thick bluray case nod.gif

don't think I will sell it since it will make a lot effort to sell that tiny unopened collection.

oh ok, that make sense... i will probably sell only some and repurchase new version; which have been re-released or remastered from the ones i have now... smile.gif

it will make your collection look bigger with each individual title and single casing  tongue.gif

it's true when you have a big shelf... i bet you do, and that's good for you. i have my fast & furious octalogy with individual casing lined-up and filled almost half of my shelf! sweat.gif
