DC Entertainment announced earlier this month that Superman would be making an appearance next season on The CW’s Supergirl. Today we learn who the Superman actor is!
Actor Tyler Hoechlin has been cast in the iconic role. You can look for him to make a two-episode appearance at the very beginning of Season 2. Hoechlin was last seen in Richard Linklater’s ‘80s-set baseball dramedy Everybody Wants Some!, in which he had a lead role. He’s also appeared in Road to Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice and Teen Wolf.
“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” says Supergirl Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
Superman has been referred to on Supergirl many times and has engaged with Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel on several occasions via instant messaging. However, so far the only glimpses we’ve seen of him have been from a distance or greatly obscured
Plus, i dont like the supergirl actress. Imho her smile is annoying, and her shoulder is too broad. I am not condemning her physical, i am just expressing my disagreement with the casting choice made by the casting director. Off the top of my head I can think of a lot of actress that would have a better look to be Supergirl.
This. Like when marvel want to cast agent coulson for the tv network. They use the same actor. So the sense of coherence is there.
Dc is not having a proper planning.
Its not due to proper planning. Superman, batman all have been license thus they cant be seen on TV shows. The CW is on their own superhero and the movie is on their own. They are not collaborating. That is why superman face is never been seen on supergirl until now. This is the reason also there is no batman live action series
Since none of the TV actors/actresses are going to appear in the movies, might as well just roll their own Justice League, Wonder Woman etc and has its own unique set of stories on TV. Make it clear that there are two franchise going. The small screen and the big screen.
if cant afford henry pun... at least bring back tom la... smallville proven to be the most successful superman story on screen... i'll bet the rating will be sky rocketing after that

DC already say TV series is not related to DC cinematic/movie universe
DC President quote Well, Arrow and Flash are the same universe, and we get a lot of great story out of that — especially when we have episodes that cross them over, but that’s also where our superhero universe lives. We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough. “
