Just back from wheels shop.  cry.gif  cry.gif  feel stupid. Dunno how come I go and choose dark gunmetal rims for my silver sentra. Looks odd now. Feels like a downgrade rather than an enthusiastic upgrade.

Oh dear, that's not good... Your Sentra is N16?

QUOTE(ei8ht @ Jul 30 2007, 01:53 AM)
i want to ask. the sentra 1.8 (current model) is 4 or 5 speed auto transmission?
if compare to a civic 1.7, which is faster?
*
N16 Sentra 1.8 QG18DE engine uses a 4-speeder auto...

Not too sure which is faster, anyone got the specs of the 2 cars in question?

Hi happychai, nice to see yu make N16 topic happening here
i think i have come across ur nick in N16 sentra club, but what happened?

Anyway guys who own N16 Sentra, there is a club out there with friendly members and knowledge sharing to outings and activities. Check out www.N16.com.my

this existing was just a temp link. We are moving to a proper site with gallery and etc very soon. The preview of the coming site was :

Added on July 31, 2007, 9:51 pmVanquish : nice ride u have there ! my fave engine, hows da tuning now? everything perfect? and u r using which gearbox?
oh yea u have got mynismo URL right?
*
Actually, this thread is catered to all Sentra owners regardless of the model generation.

I nearly bought the N16 several years back but decided not to when I discovered that the aircond system does not include blowing cold air to the bottom (the driver and front passenger footwells)... laugh.gif

So, I stayed on with my B14... Thanks for your compliments, no tuning is done at the moment becoz I haven't even gotten to drive it yet... Still in workshop but it will be ready this week...

I'm not sure if everything is perfect or not, I just hope that it won't breakdown suddenly... sweat.gif The gearbox is the OE manual gearbox that came with the Pulsar VZ-R halfcut...

Yeah, I have the mynismo URL, why?

Vanquish : I see, that means that time you was with ur B14 and thinking to change to N16? hmm but why the lower blower is so important for you? any reason for that? anyhow u have a nice engine now smile.gif it is pretty strong even its in the heavy N16.
*
The lower blower is actually just a mechanical switch that redirects the cold air down to the foot wells, even the cheapest car in M'sia has it, so why Tan Chong went El Cheapo on the N16? The Singaporean and Thai N16 Sunny has it also... It's important to me becoz on a very hot day, it's nice to have some cold air blowing at the feet... And it's also good when your feet is wet after getting into the car from heavy rain, etc...

Oh i see, but i did not use it b4 coz i scare it will blow up all the dust and also make the cockpit smelly, it wont?
*
As long as ur aircond is not at full blast, it won't blow up the dusts... Just turn the knob halfway between upper vent and bottom vent is good enough...

so hows ur car? havent out from workshop yet?
*
Haha, not really a tactic la, just an experience...

My car is actually out from the workshop oredi... Tested the car for a few days and found some very minor electrical problems... Engine is working fine, the new clutch needs to be bedded in, still feels a bit un-smooth...

Took the car back to my mech to fix up the minor problems last Saturday, and it's oredi been fixed... The next thing he'll do today is to bring the car to Puspakom for inspection and JPJ approval...

Oh congrats !! hehe do tell us hows the approval
satisfied with the VVL power? if got chance i hope i can passage beside u to try try smile.gif
*
Still got a long way to go... Apparently, I need to submit an application to JPJ Putrajaya first to inform them of my car being converted from an Auto trans to a Manual trans car... ONLY THEN can I take my car to Puspakom for inspection... Weird law... So, now waiting for the approval letter from JPJ Putrajaya...

The power of the VVL is good, but 95% of the time u dun even need to use it... The engine has a lot of pulling power from about 1,200 to 3,000rpm (ample torque)... There's hardly any need to rev the engine high... Unless you intend to race with another car... biggrin.gif

One more thing I realized that after the conversion, my Sentra now has a bloody huge turning radius... shakehead.gif According to the original car's spec sheet, the Pulsar VZ-R's turning radius is a whooping 5.2m! shocking.gif That's huge for a compact class car... A buddy of mine told me, this is normal for performance cars... All performance cars have big turn radius... unsure.gif

what original spec for b14 GTS?

The GTS is basically a normal B14 Sentra slapped on with GTS bodykits... That's it... Spec wise, it's the same as any B14 Sentra...

Gosh, sorry to hear of your predicament. How much does it cost to fix back the boot lock?

Ur Sentra is 1.6, right?

Haha, yeah, that's what a buddy of mine told me, all high performance cars have huge turn radius... laugh.gif

So far, I only managed to "activate" VVL twice... sweat.gif And that was only for testing to make sure the VVL kicks in... biggrin.gif

yaya.. 1.6 manual. I don't want to fix the boot key hole already  yawn.gif  , leave it as it is.  It will latch closed and won't open even if you go over speed bumps and can be opened with the remote or under seat lever, so I will just let this be. Hopefully it will be a deterrent to future tries.
Car at workshop, so replace lower arm, suspension and parts around there. Therefore the brakes got removed as well. Accident lor, genting highlands downhill wet , claims me as another victim.

Then only I learn, car under 5 years, the workshop must use back original manufacturer parts in the claim. After the 5th year, you can't blame them if they wanna use inferior stuff. So hence they got the replacement nismo bodykit from tan chong, ori suspension from them (still APM)  and I got to take a picture of the box  tongue.gif .

Haha.. After engine cover removed, look like your VVL engine,.... minus the performance smile.gif) haha

But, quite interesting to see how they change the spark plugs for our cars.

Also, which shop do you guys recommend to DeCat and replace the whole exhaust setup? My 3 years warranty just over and i'm itching to do this already wink.gif) . Still Lai exhaust center ka?? thanks.
*
Oh I see... Kesian... Your rims is 14" or 15"?

The NEO VVL engine looks like this woh...

user posted image

Maybe you spray paint your cam cover blue, then it will look similar... brows.gif

Why you wanna DeCat your exhaust system? Just get a good extractor, mid section and exhaust section not really that important.

Ya.. Spray gold and then  I will add a silver badge [NISSAN Twin Cam 24 Valve]... tada!! skyline rb26 wannabe. haha.

yes ori 14" rims. Feel bad after that, so I trade in the rims and got a set of 15" k-speeds. Not a nice feeling driving accident rims.

I talked to the TCEAS person doing my car. He say some cefiro owner complain of lack of power and increase fuel consumption. So they "pecah" the catalytic converter and the owner was happy after that. I think Old cat's need to be replaced or removed as it will be too restrictive.
*
Haha, RB26 is a bit too much, man... sweat.gif

OK, changed to 15" liao, so what tyres r u using right now? I'm using a 16" Lenso on my Sentra, and a set of crappy Yokohama A.drive R1... Seriously, dun get this tyre, it ain't worth it... I am dying to change back to Eagle F1 GS-D3...

Well, cat converter do need to be changed after a period of time... But your car so new leh...

haha.. I now also use the set of "crappy Yohohama A drive". Do you notice the wide waterway design on these A drives smile.gif) haha.. so obvious when you put other tyres side by side.

These are still better than the stock Ducaro GA previously. And I am quite happy with this. Never tried the eagle tyres so I won't know. Ducaro GA is fine on dry roads, but I will never take the Ducaro GA again if I am serious of safety on wet roads.

Even on a wet flat road, it's kinda easy to get the backside or the whole car to slide out, don't mention Genting wet. I will not forget that loss of grip experience on genting...

Apart from that, the sentra's butt is weird. Taking a 90 degrees corner at 60kmh on uneven tar road , the butt will abruptly jerk slightly sideways.
*
Oh, you're using A.drive R1 or normal A.drive? Wide waterway design also useless la, R1's wet performance is not good...

Eagle F1 is famous for its superb wet performance, and it's a high performance tyre so it can't be compared to the likes of Ducaro GA or A.drive R1...

Sentra's rear is multi-link beam set-up, one of the most crappy and cheap-to-manufacture suspension available today... And the it's set up in such a way that the rear wheels has a negative camber, this is the cause of poor roadholding of the rear wheels in our Sentra...

any advice on buying a used nissan sentra 2002 1.8 XE with low mileage? is there a BIG difference in terms of maintenance between 1.8 and 1.6? I read thru forums and many said 1.8 has better power and FC, izzit true..worth buying a 5 years old sentra?
*
1.8 XE? I dun think that spec exists, I guess u mean 1.8 GXE... Not much difference between 1.8 GXE and 1.6 GXE in terms of mainenance since both spec share a lot of similar parts... Unless u're comparing it with the 1.6 XE where the rear brakes are drums instead of discs...

Yeah, 1.8 has better power and FC, the N16 is heavier than the B14, so, 1.8 is better suited for the car...

how much does it cost?

Hi there, it's better if you change both sides together. I can't remember how much they cost but it's reasonable priced... U can go to PH Auto in SEA Park, PJ to buy the parts, they sell at very reasonable prices...

"Twin loop exhaust"? U mean those twin tail pipes, izzit? Actually, u're better off getting a decent quality single pipe performance exhaust from Greddy or Blitz or HKS... Those twin exhaust doesn't really serve much purpose except for looks...
