I'm not sure if Trivium qualifies as "metalcore"......
I classify them more as "tech-metal", where there's alot more intricate guitar works..... group them along with Arch-Enemy, DragonForce (But they call themselves Extreme Power Metal), Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Children of Bodom, Lamb Of God.... that type....

And honestly, I'm quite sick of "cookie-monster" vocals already.... Even Trivium decided to switch to regular singing on The Crusade......

to quote Manowar - Death To False Metal tongue.gif

actually trivium didnt decide to just switch, its just that his voice developed.
else i'm sure he'll still be doing his old style.

I thought CoB is considered extreme metal instead of metalcore.

Metalcore is actually something like Machine Head.

Nah, just asking. As you know, Alor Star is a small small small town. It would be great to know more musicians around, how they survive in this ulu city and all. LOL. biggrin.gif

well, trivium have fallen into the category of 'metal fans dont like them, hardcore fans dont want them either'.
not many europeans actually like trivium, cos they got their own better metal bands.

Oops. Sorry for the late reply. And sorry for causing this misunderstanding. I really didn't mean it that way.

As I said, I'm from Alor Star as well, a Kedah-an myself too. Ulu is just a joke, but well, there are reasons for sure. No happening pubs for local bands to show their talents or locals to enjoy good music, and I hardly see any gigs around here. Like you, I do respect my hometown, and hope things will grow better for us as well.

The latest event I've been to was the Yamaha Asian Beat Kedah Regional Final, held at Star Walk, Alor Star, which michael (guitarist from Uglymen, judge of the event together with Rudy from Pop Shuvit) gave his humble review here.

I respect all musicians, seriously, no matter where are they from. I apologize again for everything. smile.gif

u should seriously check out Evergrey bro...esp their live dvd 'a night to remember - live in gothenberg'...Anyone seen this? THe band is just AWESOME live! like really really awesome. I've seen Metallica play live like 10 years ago back in England (Earl's Court baby!) and seriously, to me Evergrey is way way better...Wish i could see this band play live in front of my eyes soon - but i guess i have to get some tickets to Europe for this...haha (yeah...Europe...amsterdam...hmm)

Anyways, the vocalist sings and shreds...but he's no Mustaine coz and he really sings, without having to do those nasty growls...like with pure emotions and his guitar playing is damn great too....those few bands which got endorsment by Caparison

check out 'blinded' here...an excerpt from the dvd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc7F6gu5H1s...related&search=

Opeth is damn good too but I don't really dig Opeth coz of the vocal's growling or whatever u wanna call that...although i know their music is really2 good....haven't seen any dvd videos on them though...

Evergrey, Opeth, whatever...Swedish metal band rocks man!

well, opeth's 'clean' album is damnation.
of cos most of opeth stuff in one song they go from clean to growl to whatever music they wanna play, so its not usually growls all the way.

i also have their Lamentations DVD, live at shepherd's bush empire 2003.
