I've a few questions, hope I can get some advice on it:-

1. How long does it usually take from EP application to IPA?

2. If you've signed / accepted the employment offer to start work in August but
have not yet even received the IPA, are you required to report for work using the
social pass?

3. I understand that it is illegal to work without EP or any other passes, but does
in-process of application count for anything?

4. What is a comfortable salary range for Malaysians working in SG? Is 4k acceptable?
I mean, without spending much on luxuries.

Btw, I've submitted almost 20+ resumes before landing this job recently.
Good luck to job-seekers out there!

Thanks!  smile.gif

1. i think a week or so, personal experience the whole process (from application - getting IPA - medical - getting approved EP) takes 2 weeks.

2. You cannot work legally without at least IPA

3. You need IPA minimum

4. Very subjective. Do you share room? Do you need private bathroom? The main cost of Singapore is accommodation. You should live comfortably with 1k per month.

Speaking of money, what is the best way to send money back to Malaysia?
Any limitations imposed on the system? How much maximum etc.?
Thanks for all the advice.

DBS free remit to Msia, rate usually 0.2 - 0.3 lower than actual. Maximum up to you to set in your account

Else bring cash, no limit

Or money changer also entertain TT, i believe above 10k SGD is FOC and you get better rate

Ex: engineer in msia received around rm4000, how about in sgapore? SGD4k also?

how many % from our salary will be deducted for tax?
For example here in Msia 12% deduct for epf....
*

U must be charging 6 digits tu your cards yearly to collect enough miles for suites... manyak kaya...
I'm using citibank PM visa too for 3rd year now, but I doubt I have enough miles even for one person to go business class.
*
SIA suites one way to japan cost 60k miles, considering that Citibank PM offer 1.2 miles per $1, that is $50k spending.

Better if you don't own any citibank card now, sign up PM Visa spend 10k within 3 months you will get 42k miles.

51k miles only cos there's 15% discount if you redeem online. Between 2miles/$ overseas (i.e. Malaysia) spend, 6-10 miles/$ Expedia/Agoda promos, and annual fee miles credits, the accrual rate is actually quite a bit quicker than one might expect.

But yes, having said that, you do need a decent level of expenditure to make it 'worthwhile,' otherwise better to go for a cash back card I guess.
*
ah ok but if u spend that much with MYR, consider Maybank 2 Premier. The Amex Reserve earn you 1 mile per RM 0.954 spent.

Well, $1000 is easy to maintain, so $2 is avoiable

Normally outside money changer remittance will gv u much better rate and no service charge if above certain amount, just save some money in ur ocbc360 , while earning good interest, and change it one lum sum with the money changer when it reaches tat amount.
Edit

To add on i remember posb/dbs new acct now oso need to maintain $1k min, else got monthly charge ? Mot sure when i heard it from
*
It's average daily balance > $1,000

My acc also have limitation of max ATM withdrawal of 4 times per month, anything more also $2 charge.

I did not find anything about declaration or require something. However, the HR told me that once they receive the medical report, they will then issue the pass and I can start working.

They did not recommend me anything about which clinic to go and also say anything about the expenses. I have just sent them a mail asking about any recommendation and the expenses. Will wait and see what they say.

Do you know normally how long it takes for the report to be done?
THanks
*
depends on clinic, I went to SATA on thursday 4pm and.collected my report on.the following Monday
