Maid is around 700 including levy right? Not sure if you also need to home and feed her like in MY too.

Part timers are cheaper but need to buy in minimum hour blocks. Ends up not cheap also.

I don't earn enough bah to maintain 3 maids - one for my parents in hometown, one for kl family and one in SG lor. Doesn't make financial sense. Ironing and other misc housework tak suka but DIY lor.

more than that... i used to pay 550 for maid salary, and 260+ for levy(IIRC), and provide her with accomodation and food of course.

Hi, when would be a good time (as in which month of the year) to apply for PR? Anything else I should take note of? I heard people saying that beginning of the year is the best as you will stand a higher chance. Is this true? Can someone enlighten me ?

Frankly speaking, nobody knows, because ICA doesn't publish acceptance criteria, and most of the time doesn't give reasons for rejection.

Last time in 2012 when I applied, common logic was that EP holders work 2 years then apply PR got good chance of acceptance.

But I've never heard of different times / particular months within the year better chance of approval hmm.gif

Singapore is one of the countries in the world where you can 'buy' your way to citizenship.

With USD2.5 mil, you get immediate PR

Says who? Never heard of anyone getting ep below the required  minimum salary.

Also, I hope they don't raise the minimum required income to bring in family.. 5k is already ridiculously high. Wat the gomen of singapore think? Worker here meant as slave.. ? No time even for family..

My case, start work in SG on April 2014, ROM in SG on NOV 2015, submit PR application (Spouse under my application, so two ppl applying) on NOV 2015, June 2016 approve.

I'm 26 YO and my wife 25 YO.

Rumors said, below factor will increase your chance:

1) Age: the younger the easier you get PR, singapore is facing ageing population issue cuz low birth rate... so they love young talent who can work long time to contribute SG economy and of course CPF rclxms.gif

2) Married and spouse working in SG: The chance of you will build family in SG is very high, for your next generation future, and yes, singapore love baby, this will lead to first factor.

3) Qualification, salary, job industry, company: With good education(Degree), decent salary (able to feed family in SG), great job with good prospect (IT, engineer, development, research, medical and etc), good company (company with bad financial condition will affect because you are highly kena lay off or company shut down you will lose job, gov don't want to feed you)

4) Nationality, Race: people who are easier to adapt to SG culture will get PR easier. Malaysian (Chinese), Bruneian (Malay, Chinese), Indonesian (Chinese) are easier to get PR than Indian, Pinoy, Burmese, Vietnam, PRC and other third world country...

is it really hard to get EP pass nowdays ? My recruitment agency told me they are unable to process my application for ep pass at the moment due to SG goverment new rules etc.

Agency will apply work permit pass for me and after three months agency will submit application for EP pass.

Is that sound okay ? What is the disadvantages holding a work permit instead of EP pass for malaysian ?

I'm planning to stay at JB and ride a bike to singapore. Anyone can give me some insight how's the trafffic at second link tuas compare to woodlands causeway ? My office location at dell SG.

JUST IN: Qualifying salary for Employment Pass applications to be raised from $3,300 to $3,600 from Jan 1, 2017

The change is part of the Manpower Ministry's (MOM) regular updating of the EP qualifying salary to keep pace with rising local wages, maintain the quality of Singapore's foreign workforce and enhance their complementarity to the local workforce, MOM said in a press release on Tuesday (July 26).

The previous minimum EP qualifying salary update was in January 2014, from $3,000 to $3,300. http://str.sg/4SNZ

MOM said it will provide lead time for businesses to make adjustments. Existing EP holders whose passes expire:

Before Jan 1, 2017: Will be able to renew, for a duration of up to three years, based on existing EP criteria.

Between Jan 1, 2017 and June 30, 2017 (both dates inclusive): Will be able to renew, for a duration of one year, based on the existing EP criteria.

July 1, 2017 onwards: Will have to meet the new criteria for renewal, for a duration of up to three years.
