Mine is about a week or so...
Not long...
After the initial EP is approved, you will need to go to MOM to get ur EP card...

I can now vouch for this waiting time length for future reference.
The company applied mine on 07/07/2016 and got it approved today.

Grajindo don't listen to this wrong information. You can totally start work legally with the IPA, and do the fingerprinting, medical check-up, and other processes to get the formal EP card in the meantime.

My employer in Singapore gave me a stack of forms which I have to sign. one of it is credit check on me.
Can i know if I don't sign the credit form, what will happen?
Can they access my credit report through ccris since they are not a member, unless going through their subsidiary in malaysia.

SINGAPORE – Employment Pass Applicants Will Require a Notification Letter to Start Work

With effect from 16th March 2015, Employment Pass applicants will need a Notification Letter before they can commence work.

Meaning Employment Pass (EP) applicants can only start work once their pass has been issued and they have received a Notification Letter (NL). The In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter will no longer allow Employment Pass (EP) applicants to start work.

Just to share further. I started work on a Monday with IPA, on the same day itself the company applied for appointment with MOM on Thursday. So I got the Notification Letter on Monday itself, went for appointment on Thursday and got my EP card on the next Tuesday. During that time I was working with the company already.

Same reason why they ask have you ever been convicted of XXX, etc etc
I guess being an ex convict is in the same category as being an ex bankrupt or highly delinquent person

Which mean you need the notification letter .
Although its ok to work before . But it is illegal and might cause you problem if something happened .

As deodorant mentioned above, this is not true
IPA allows you to work already, it is not illegal

I am in a financial industry. thus, credit check is highly important to employers. yea. I missed some months of my repayment in ptptn. however, ptptn is not under category of secured loan. so I think i dont have to declare.

What notification letter?

I flew in with IPA and do medical at SATA clinic...

Next day report to work and company made appointment for thumb print on the third day.

Third day, i went to Clark Quay area for thumb print then after four working days which is the following week i got the physical EP already.

Heck, i dont even need physical EP to open with DBS and subscribe to M1. I just use IPA and tenancy agreement.

I remember this clearly because it happened last month June 2016.

Already one month here.....

Thanks for all the clarification. I will just check with my employer and see when they require me to start. But he did mention that I will need to be there next week or week after for medical checkup once MOM approves the application.
