Hi all!
Just wanna consult ppl here working in accounting roles. I was wondering what is the demand for accounting personnel right now? I know the employment market is grim in sg now. but my gf moved there and i was thinking of making a move too. I currently working for a US MNC's SSC in msia, handling the GL function. The companies i handled are mainly based in EU and singapore. My company has a HQ in singapore, and i report mostly to the controller and senior managers in SG. i dealt with the finance staff in SG quite often. I have 1+ year of exp for this company, is it gonna give me an advantage here? Other than that, I have 3+ years handling full set accounts for sdn bhd, which i believe not worth much in SG. Education wise, i am an aussie grad with a degree in finance. currently pursuing my prof certs (CIMA to be exact), at the middle level, passed several papers last year, actively studying it now. i been observing jobstreet and other job sites, seems GL positions are popping up quite frequent, ranging from junior to senior roles. Not sure they consider malaysians anot? I am thinking of trying my luck applying for cost accounting positions, but its a long shot. What are my chances? |

Hi all, I'm new to this thread. I've always wanted to work in Singapore. I've been working as a teacher here in Msia for the past 5 years in government schools. I think I've gathered enough experience here already so it's time to move on. I've tried applying to MOE SG but failed twice already so far. May I know is there any teacher from here Msia who has successfully switch to SG so far?

What should I do? Ask for 8.5% increment on your base salary. Worked out to roughly your AWS figure. Do not sign a new contract if it means taking out 1 month of your annual income. |

One freshie entered the company with a higher salary than other freshies. He asked for it and the company has given. But end of the year, this poor fellow didn't get bonus while others are getting average 2 months. Totally not worth the few hundred higher salary compared to the bonus he's lost |

QUOTE(XiuKeong @ Jan 8 2017, 12:08 AM) Not very likely. They only take in the very experienced ones. My boss did told me be4.Majority of finance work r done here in msia. The maintain a very lean team over there, mainly just managers and couple of specialist. |

They told me all freshie are affected but my 2 other colleagues that have the similar contract as mine are not being ask to do changes. I want to refuse for amendment. It is not fair. I read and signed in front of them but they never say anything for half a year. I'm just worried that if I refuse they gonna kick me out. Will they breach the contract? Since I already have s pass, is it easy to get the next job? |

I suggest you keep all the documents about this; emails, paper trails, what ever you can get your hands on. Will be useful if you wanna file a lawsuit.I want to refuse for amendment. It is not fair. Want to ask
1) If my unit current broadband is held by my housemate, is it possible to do a transfer to my name or should I subscribe a new service again? 2) If it means to cancel the existing broadband, will the service provider take back the router as well? 3) What's the best deal for broadband? So far most package comes in $39.90/month and $49.90/month This post has been edited by XiuKeong: Jan 9 2017, 01:29 AM |

Why not? Go.la. once u had the life in europe or usa, u might decide they fit u more. Or if ur the cosmopolitan futurist type, singapore will be better.
Better to try and know what u didnt choose, rather than keep wondering how its like later |

Sounds like a nice idea
Might be hard getting a job there (if working holiday is not possible) Also there's the concern of getting a job once you move back to SG |
