No. Thats just one of the many theories. It depends much on your experience, education asking salary ,the employer themselves and also your luck.

I have a brother-in-law who is based in Singapore (not to mention several friends who work in SG too) and if I were to try my luck with a job there, how do I start? And can I get my bro-in-law to become a referral or supporter of my application? hmm.gif

I'm 36 and looking at a new challenge, after over 10 years with the same company... rclxms.gif

Lucky you have a potential referral. If the company wants one, then that could be good for you.

i'd say having a local number will help, but only to certain extent. With all the other factors being equal, one candidate has local number and one foreign number, i'd be inclined to call the local number first, that's thinking from employer perspective.

May I know if your home address and contact number all from Singapore, would it be easier to get an interview call?

you will have a slight upper hand compare with one who does not have a local number. i did purposely get a sg number before going to SG to find job

is it really necessary to stay in jb and work in sg? it is really tiring to jam at 2 customs daily, you may need to wake up very early everyday just to beat the jam and reach office on time.

Then I think the question you should ask yourself is ... why? Why bother uprooting yourself and planting in SG when you can't afford to have your family in the same country as you?

Has anyone have experience in getting insurance in SG? I am interested in knowing more esp. in those saving plan. With the current low interest rate offer by banks, is buying an insurance plan a wiser choice? I am very new to all these insurance as for the past years, I was covered by some other organisations but now I will need to get my own.

Appreciate if can hear some advice from you guys.

Thanks. May I know which company did you get from? I'm just thinking to have a saving plan ATM, but possibly getting others too in near future once I can have better idea how's much expenditure would be like.

I got contact of agents from AIA and Prudential too last week when they approached me but I didn't ask much since I was in rush.

Why my EP only valid 1 year? What happens after that? If re-apply then reject means kena sent home omgomgomg blink.gif

I think there could be any reasons, but we don't know which one. IMO, one of it is due to market condition too volatile and uncertain. I would think best to ask your manager/HR directly for an answer.

Replying on referral only: Anyone that has direct relationship other than employment can't be your referral (For employment), however relatives/family and friends can be one good indicator that u have someone locally which increase adaptability/reduce risk failing to fit into SG environment.

Agree one this.

Hi guys,

Need your expert help. My employer have applied EP for me 1.5 months ago. The initial result of the application was 'Rejected' so now they are appealing and pending for result. It has been pending for result for about 1 month now and I'm getting worried. The HR can't do anything but to wait for MOM. So, I have researched for alternative and found out that dependent pass can also work in SG, as long as they have Letter Of Consent. Thankfully, my husband is working in SG and I'm eligible to apply for Dependent pass.

Have anyone encountered this problem before? Thanks all!
*
I am more interested to know why they rejected your application. If its company side then that is okay, but if its your application side then I am not sure if it makes any different.

I am not that familiar with SG insurance plans, but generally insurance company saving plans are merely subpar...
If you are looking for places where you can grow your wealth, I suggest unit trusts...
Of course it will take a bit more effort but the return can also be higher...
But it is really up to you...
Just don't be deceived by large amount of payout upon maturity...
Cheers...

Talking about getting the number. Does they sell their number via prepaid? Or we need to provide supporting documents to obtain the numbers ?

Currently I'm just a Malaysian without EP yet, thus is it still the same requirement on getting prepaid number?

Postpaid? Even a Malaysian can just purchase one right away?
