So it was a false break below 2300 and a daily close above 2400. This created a bullish pin bar from support on the daily chart of the S&P500 tis morning.

Today's close will be crucial. It needs to close above 2500 to form a 'higher high' candlestick and confirm the bullish daily candle. 3 consecutive higher high daily candles and we might have a bottom in place.

It was because one of the senate ( from Democratic?) mentioned that there could be no deal for the corona-virus stimulus package and Market react to it.
Very difficult to trade these days as you dont know when the news will struck and every swing easily 1,000 points up or down!

China economy shrinks 6.8%, while I remember seeing news that the profit of most banks in America drop kaw kaw. The recent spike really make me confuse. Not that I sold everything, I'm still long with some stocks, only paring down INTC slowly.

I doubt we are either bull or bear now. Maybe up and down consolidate. Just buy stock that really intended even though already move a bit, and sell stocks that do not have plan to keep. At least that is my plan. Overall US stocks seems like back to pre-crash level, at least my portfolio, but there are some stocks still at reasonable price.

Sg circuit breaker commence a few weeks after mys.

Extended MCO couldn't guarantee outbreak and lockdown will not occur again.

I totally agree.

It's either they blanket test everyone and then cherry pick the infected to one island and others at the other, I don't really think we can guarantee that the outbreak will not re-occur.

I'm interested with AAPL, AVGO, INTC, QCOM.
Which two will be you pick?

I heard INTC has another great quarter for Q1 but its share price barely moves much.

The share price move from 44+ to now, so I guess it's already priced in?

QUOTE(kaiserreich @ May 6 2020, 10:34 AM)
Given that if you are able to get $0 commission accounts nowadays, is it worthwhile to sell shares before ex-div date and buy it back after?
This avoids the 30% withholding tax.

It is a bit on the micromanagement side, and if you have a ton of different shares, it may be too troublesome.

Focusing on high dividend yield shares, theoretically, is this possible?

No doubt, the risk is that share go up in between the the dates you sell and you buy.
*
I'm using a TD Ameritrade but now still not getting 0% commission. They actually moved Asian accounts to Singapore, so I'm not sure the 0% is applicable. Besides this TD Ameritrade, I'm not sure which US trading account that I can open here.

Actually I know a bunch of folks in my company that holds their company shares forever. The withholding tax alone could be few thousand a year, RM
Since they have all their eggs in 1 basket, might do them well to (micro)manage it 4 times a year.

EDIT: For those wondering, US folks don't do this since they are subject to Capital Gains if they sell. And they can get 0 tax on dividend if the stock is in their retirement account. And this is probably not suitable for when markets are volatile, but during normal times, stocks don't fluctuate that much.
*
I sold some of my company shares (just in case Enron repeat, and I don't want my retirement depends solely one the company), and use the proceedings to buy other stocks. Yea, the whitholding tax is pretty heavy (in my case also in 4 digits per year), although I think we can still claim back some amount, but when I download the form, I almost rclxub.gif . So I also give up bye.gif
