QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 2 2019, 12:58 PM) Yeah, even crazy POTUS wants Fed to cut 1%. That's nuts. I think if we close below another low point by tonight, this is going to be reversal. The market always look for a reason to turn around. This Fed speak could be it, coincidental with "Sell in May" time. today, bears seem powerless. Looks like gotta see tomorrow's performance. |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 10 2019, 05:05 AM) UBER IPO price set at $45. IPO, hard to say, since lots of traders playing, sort of unrelated to broad market performance. For instance, recent Beyond Meat, rally heavenly strong At least not too lofty anymore. Let see how it opens tomorrow. Bad timing for IPO but it is what it is. Maybe it won't be like LYFT, been down since IPO. |

...and, today's hk/china market were super bullish instead. major indexes up 3% to 4%, Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect showed good volume flowing in of nice net buy volume. Look at US market futures, they are also rebounded to about flat.

QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 10 2019, 09:04 AM) Two years ago (early 2017), it was as high as 1USD-RM4.45 . Interesting point, ringgit lost over 50%. In fact, entire world's currency lost more than the number shown. So, that means, world currency were as a whole devalued due to some superpower countries keep on printing money. Take a look at iPhone price, it is doubled from 2007 to 2018. The ringgit fell against every major currencies. Felt a replay of 1997 crisis. Looking at the chart, things fell into the trap door after 2015 (RM/USD spiked above 3.5). The best lowest rate was around 2011, 1 usd = RM3. But, over the years, US dollar index actually has devalued due to the money printing performed by the Fed. The balance sheet has grown from 1T to 4T in 10 years. One has to think if Dollar has devalued, and yet the Ringgit fell against more than 20% against the Dollar, the Ringgit may have lost over 50% of its purchasing power in the last 8-10 years. It's absolutely insane. http://digg.com/2018/iphone-prices |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 22 2019, 12:18 AM) Looks like market is temporary happy again with the 90 days reprieve that Google is allow to work with Huawei to get latest updates till Aug 19. big problem for huawei phone department, definitely. Today's news in Malaysia, when reporters went on street to interview some malaysians about this, most of them simply replied won't consider to buy Huawei phone in near future until things cleared. Huawei is preparing now, perhaps going to launch add more to its China-based Playstore. I don't own any Huawei phone but a friend of mine show it to me. The internal Chinese-version Google Play (HiApp/AppStore) looks ok but the external google play for international market (non-Chinese) could be a problem. Also, not sure because of this ban, Google could be forced to detect and disable any of its Playstore service if it detects Huawei phone. Although people can sideload the app but it could be a huge nuisance to non-tech users. What you guys think? And, also big problem for huawei's major revenue driving busniess, telco (aka 5G for near future). Without mature suppliers for chips, it will be nightmare. To replace that with Huawei's own hardware technology can take years to establish a solid supply chain. my take for it: how long can Trump continues to be president of USA? if the day he step down, will that be the end for trade war? |

trump is now making the world split into two....the US, and the China. These two superpower, will have their own world....be that high tech protocol, or system, or factories. This is not a good picture to portrait future world....10 years ahead from today. In a world like this, contradictions and conflicts will be happening everywhere, trade war will continues for centuries, if not forever.
Not good, i think. |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 23 2019, 12:50 AM) I think AAPL will be likely targeted by the chinese govt and chinese consumers during this trade war period. Apple sure kena one.Maybe worst case scenario, sales down 25% for the year. They made 52 bln in 2018 in China, let's assume worst case only 39 bln for 2019 but everywhere revenue remains the same. Maybe AAPL may re-visit Jan low price of $140. This will give us another opportunity here. target set at 140 is very ambitious! i'd be happy if it could hit 160 (i have been queuing at 170 actually, but may reset and put lower to 160) This post has been edited by yok70: May 23 2019, 06:41 AM |
